20.04.14 - Adam/William One of the things we try to do on our historic film projects is recreate old photographs or paintings. For "Tell Them of Us" we have several family photos and have had great fun getting our actors in similar settings/poses. This particular one looked so uncanny that I went a step further and morphed the two images into one. Today we are digging our own trench in a local wood and filming a scene representing Northern France.

Long neck Padaung woman, Inle Lake, Myanmar The Padaung tribe, also called Kayan Lahwi, are a subgroup of the ethnic Karen people. Girls first start to wear brass rings, as a form of cultural identity, when they are around five years old, gradually adding more turns as they get older. The weight of the brass pushes the collar bone down and compresses the rib cage. According to Wikipedia, the neck itself is not lengthened; the appearance of a stretched neck is created by the deformation of the collar bone. The coils are rarely removed and the neck muscles under the coil become weakened. In recent times, due to discouragement by the government of ring wearing, some women have been removing their coils. Portraits of older and younger women, with more, and with fewer, rings can be seen here, and also a couple of photos of a long neck woman weaving using a backstrap loom: http://goo.gl/8r1RDL 21/04/14 www.allenfotowild.com
Easter Sunday Parade in Dingle... a bit of history ... back in 1916 there was an uprising on Easter Sunday against British rule in Ireland .. all the leaders were executed which led to a war of Independence and ultimately created the Irish Free State (The Irish Republic) and Northern Ireland
Freedom Bridge Opened a year ago, this pedestrian and bicycle bridge connects Austria (Schloss Hof) to Slovakia (Devínska Nová Ves - near Bratislava) over the March/Morava River. The original bridge was built in 1771, but often destroyed - most recently by the iron curtain. Twenty-five years after the end of the Soviet Union, it still feels strange to be able to just stroll across what used to be a heavily defended border. (This is a telephoto shot - you are seeing about 300m of bridge, so the slopes are not really quite so steep.)

April 21, 2014 Spring has finally sprung :)
April 21, 2014 This is a shot of the group of us that were working the Americase booth at the Safari Club International show. Bill is actually taking this photo. We're caught here in a rare moment of rest ..... much appreciated when you've worked a 4 day (10 hour/day) trade show where you are generally on your feet the entire time. From the rear (sitting) is Caleb, me, Alice and standing is Graham. Alice and Graham are married happily for many years. It was wonderful to have both of them along for the working days and dinners in the evenings. Here's an idea for a future challenge....food shots. We all occasionally post shots of food, so I thought it might be worthy of conversation. "It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees." Baltsar Gracian Stand tall my friends!
