January 21 - Moody Journey This is perhaps one of the best skies I have had a chance to photograph. The sky was full of clouds and the sun was shining bright. Over the year I plan to try out different photography techniques. This is another HDR experiment. I'm not sure if I really like HDR or not. What are you thoughts on HDR? Good and bad welcome.

A shot of a piano in our home. Its a beautiful piece of furniture to bad I can't play it,,,,, The company I found went out of business during the Great Depression I have been told the piano dates back to approx 1915 to 1920. Just a neat piece to have a round. Have a great day everyone. And Thank You for all the great comments you all put up daily...
050211 Tree in Shohola Falls Long week last week with the shutter failing on my Nikon D50 and computer problems at work. Took a drive to Delaware Water Gap over the weekend to get away. Trying to adjust to my D60 but I liked my older camera.
Lake Isabelle, Indian Peaks National Wilderness, CO A new version of a photo from our trip to Colorado in July 2010. I want to get a large print of this so I had to re-crop it for 8x10 aspect ratio and I touched up the processing. It seems like every time I revisit old photos I find new ways to process them. And I don't even do much stuff, just little tweaks make a big difference. I think this was the first photo I took with a DSLR that I really liked a lot, so it is one of my personal favorites. I hope everyone has a fun weekend! I know I'll be watching some good football games. Daily photo: January 15, 2011, reprocessed January 15, 2011, taken July 30, 2010

I captured this photo in the open ocean, just after he exited the San Francisco Bay. Needless to say, these were challenging shots to obtain - as my sailboat was going up and down and sideways, my subject was doing the same - and we definitely weren't in sync! Even open-ocean sailors reported the sailing conditions to be very severe that day. Articles of the race reported "Conditions were severe under the bridge, and got worse out in the ocean. It was so rough that Second Verse, a Cascade 36, was hit by a wave and knocked down until the spreaders were under water." Dave was competing against 14 boats of all types, broke his boom during the trip, and finished the race in 17 days and 3 hours. Not only did he place second in the race, he received the Single Handed Sailing Society's Belt Buckle, and the Foxxfyre Trophy for creative ingenuity under sail, because after breaking the boom in the race, he repaired it and kept on sailing! Incredible!

August 28, 2010 update - "Clouds Over Grapevine" An 8x10 version of this photo won Best Of Show and 1st Place in the City Views category for the annual "What's Great In Grapevine" photo contest. There were 106 amateur entries in the juried contest. January 31, 2010 - "Last Train To Ft. Worth" This was shot last Sunday at the historic Grapevine, Texas railroad station. I was checking out a Lake Grapevine marina for photo ops but did not see anything I liked. On the way home I noticed there were not many cars parked at the railroad station, so took the opportunity to shoot. That makes two Sundays in a row that my alternate venue has worked out :) Tourist trains run from Grapvine to the historic Ft. Worth Stockyards. footnote to Ed's comment - was shot HDR
January 24, 2010 - "Sunday Morning Fog" Last Sunday morning I looked outside and there was heavy fog. So I quickly dressed and drove a couple miles to a barn that I have been wanting to shoot in heavy fog. The barn sits on a hill and there was not enough fog to even get out of the car and try a shot. So, on the way home I stopped by some horse property on the low land around Bear Creek. None of the horses were out but I did get this photo. April 25, 2010 - This photo was the second place winner in the Scenics category of the juried 2010 Bob Jones Nature Center Photography Contest in Southlake, Texas. There were six categories and the photos had to be shot in our local area Ecosystem

January 14. This is a 100 year old summerhouse in the dunes just 100 m. from the beach. I shot it just before sunset in order to get the glow in the windows and the dark BG. The foreground was darkened in order to draw all attention to this well-preserved house .
