21.09.14 - Armistice Day 1918 Yesterday was our last "proper shoot" for Tell Them of Us, only a couple of small pick-up shots to get once we have some autumn colour in the trees. It was a big day of bitter sweet emotions, and a huge cast of extras as we turned Thimbleby back to the day the villagers heard that war was over. The church bells rang for the first time in over four years, which brought people out onto the streets to celebrate. Everything seemed to go well, even the weather was kind and it only rained when we had a break for lunch! Now director/producer Nick has the tough task of editing down all the footage to about 90 minutes of coherent narrative. I can now finish off the behind the scenes photo book and get the last images for the Centenary Stitches book sorted out. Oh and there is also the small matter of putting together the exhibition to run alongside the film at The Collection Museum in Lincoln during November, and all the associated publicity campaign, so we haven't quite finished yet :) P.S. If you have time please check out my Daily from yesterday, only one person saw it for some reason and it was a very different one for me :)
I have returned from White Mountains. Every year we take the kids to an amusement park near North Conway. It's called "Story Land". The kids love it. He re's their website - just in case you're a little curious about this place: www.storylandnh.com This is a shot of a signal light and engine at the Conway Scenic Railroad. September 22, 2014 This was one of the highest points (9,869 feet above sea level) that we got on our vacation through Utah and Arizona (You'll see another from 11,000+ feet in a few days). You see Bill (my husband) standing on the edge of a scenic pullout called Winkler Point. According to a historical plaque at this site: "Named in honor of Ernest Winkler, born November 28, 1877 at Mount Pleasant, Utah. He began his career in the U.S. Forest Service July 14, 1905. He served as the Fillmore-now Fishlake National Forest from March 2, 1913 to May 1, 1916. He was Chief of the Division of Range and Wildlife Management in the Intermountain Region of the Forest Service from July 1, 1923 until the time of his death December 31, 1936. As friend administrator and conservationist, he left his mark in the hearts of those who knew him and in the national forest areas he supervised. From this point can be observed the mountains, vellyes and deserts he loved." And indeed we could see why he loved this area - it is gorgeous. I can't imagine spending a life in such a beautiful place. "Transformation is a process, and as life happens there are tons of ups and downs. It's a journey of discovery - there are moments on mountaintops and moments in deep valleys of despair." ~ Rick Warren Have a mountain-high day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com

Golden Fields & Blue Mountains October 2008 Taken in Montana, Madison River Valley, just after a storm.
"The River Flows" On my way home from an appt. today I stopped at one of my favorite fishing spots on the Rockaway River in my town to grab this capture. Too bad I didn't have a set of waders in my car to get the little water fall that is located just below this scene but I have to be UNDER the bridge I was on in order to get it in the frame LOL. So you'll have to settle for this one. I love the little water flow control house that is dilapidated here, it adds a nice rigid feel to the scene. I've watched the roof continue to collapse over the years and soon it will just fall in completely. This is one of the best trout spots around here and they stock the river just upstream weekly during trout season from the farm with tags on them so you know if you caught a wild or farm bread fish. The mountain you see in the background is part of the Picatinny Arsenal where they develop & test new weapons for the military. Anyway, it was an overcast day here as you can see and it really brought some nice contrast into the picture that I liked. I had to make slight levels adjustments to bring the clouds out a bit more and then some selective dodging & burning to the shadow areas but not much more to this one. Oh and a slight filter applied to bring the colors up a bit since it was so dark here. 10 min. of work and it was finished. So I hope you enjoy this next addition to my fall colors month - I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and get out there to enjoy the crisp clean fall air ;) ALTERNATE VERSION: You can see a second version in SEPIA of this image in my EXTRAS Gallery BY CLICKING HERE Best Regards, ~Bill~
September 23, 2007 Fog in the forest.
I waited for 6 months for the sun to go down in the midle of the road. Fortunately it did not rain that day. I brought a boy with me to wave good night to the sun. Suddenly I saw the birds comming from the left, and got them in "the decive moment".

February 10... Beach #4. Almost every day I take Blif for a walk along the beach. Especially in autumn and winter the sky puts up magnificent shows. The other day this sky came up covering most colors even a bit of green at the left. The show went on for app. 10 minutes, and then it was all over.
