Sanderling - we enjoyed watching this guy/gal spin around and walk backwards looking for food in the water. Seemed oblivious to us.Taken on Maui. I really appreciate the comments!
On this day, I awoke to find a tranformed world. All of the snow, which had fallen as a light powder, was now coated with a glazed crust of ice, perfect for fairies to skate on and humans to slip on. The ice formed somehow as part of a thawing and refreezing cycle. That occurrence is common in winters around here. You expect some kind of crust to form on the snow. But this one was exceptional for its smoothness and extreme reflectivity. Miracle of miracles, we had a sunny day to reveal this coating in all of its loveliness. A walk in Gallup Park, along the river, over the foot bridges, and back, was sheer fantasy. DP065-2015 Posted Friday, March 6; processed March 5 from photo taken ditto. If you have ever tried to photograph any highly reflective sparkling surface, you will understand that no photograph can do such a sight justice. Certainly my skill and equipment were not equal to the task - at least not to the extent I would have wished. For what it's worth, I'll be adding additional shots of this fun phenomenon either to my 2015 winter gallery (http://arctangent.smugmug.com/SeasonsoftheYear-3/1st-Winter/2015-A-Winter-Early-Arrival/45799205_8fgTfr) or my Ice and Snow gallery (http://arctangent.smugmug.com/SeasonsoftheYear-3/1st-Winter/Snow-and-Ice-details/6892531_52KFj8) over the coming days. There are a few there already. Title: One more marvel before winter departs I'm so happy that so many of you took the time to comment on yesterday's icicle shot. Thursday was another good day for photographing icicles, but the crazy glazed snow trumped icicles as the subject for my DP post for today (Friday)

3/6/15 - New version of the old Coca-Cola bottles! Even though it is a different color, it still evokes the same nostalgic feelings. Thanks for the comments on my shot of the bottles and glasses at the bar!
March 6, 2015 This is a photo of a small Lake near Glen Rose, Texas. We stumbled across it while we were on one of our roaming, no-destination road trips. I really liked the reflections of the tree stumps on the lake & the hazy sky. Thank you for your comments and critiques! Have a great day friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
This one reminds me of feathers, fallen from a silvery magical bird.... Thanks for your suggestions on yesterday's fractal, if you have some thoughts on this one, I'd love to hear them! 03.06.15

Friday, March 6, 2015 "OLDE WORLD TREASURES" "It is easily overlooked that what is now called vintage was once brand new." ~ Tony Visconti Frigid and Flashback Friday....... The temp is 24 degrees in our city and remnants of the snow that we got yesterday morning remains. I didn't take any photos of the snow yesterday and stayed inside all day. Come on, Spring:)! Known as “Arizona’s country town,” Dewey-Humboldt was formed in 2004 as a merger of two neighboring communities in the Agua Fria River Valley. The combination brought the rich farming culture of Dewey together with Humboldt, a mining community. "Dewey-Humboldt is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The population of the town was 3,894 according to the 2010 census. The Dewey-Humboldt area was a census-designated place at the 2000 census, at which time its population was 6,295." ~ Reprinted from Wikipedia Thanks for perusing, commenting on and/or giving my photos a "thumbs up!"
