Boats on the Velikaya River bank. (6.11.2011) Sorry I didn't have time to comment yesterday. Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.
1-11: Saturday morning we drove up Highways 7 and did some hiking in Wild Basin. This is "Chapel on the Rock" built in 1935, part of Saint Malo Catholic Retreat off of Highway 7. I think it's a neat looking old chapel and it resides in a very beautiful setting. Behind is Mt. Meeker. As you can see, it was another very windy morning up in the mountains. A lot of snow was blowing off the mountain peaks.
5-18: Sorry for no comments today - Melanie (my wife) had me doing chores almost all day long :( I'll try to catch up soon. We were driving by a farm near Lions Park natural area north of Fort Collins and this section of fence caught my eye. I think those little glowing round things are dandelion seed puff things.
Cabin-0461 This is what home looked like early Monday morning. The trees, especially the two corkscrew-willows, were simply amazing with all the wet snow clinging to them. Since I don't see it very often, one thing I had forgotten about snow is it's tough to shoot! The light was only favorable for a short time and the wind was enough to ruin a lot of the more graceful scenes early on, but it certainly was a pleasant change from all the dead winter vegetation. But all that's over now - Bring on Spring!
11-05: I was driving around south Fort Collins in an area I don't think I've ever been and I actually got kind of lost for a while. The street ended at this pond so I stopped and took a picture. Yesterday was cloudy with dark clouds that looked like rain clouds - very unusual for this time of year in Fort Collins.
"Those Eyes" details best seen @ size X3 While walking through my kids TV room last night I noticed a great beam of natural sunlight coming through the front window as the sun was going down and then saw my daughter Alexa's eyes catching the light as well. So I made her get off the couch (I know I'm a terrible Dad LOL) and had her stare out of the window. I should have went to get my 50mm Nikkor or 90mm Tamron for this Portrait to get a sharper image but I was lazy and stuck with the 18-200 VR that was on the body but I think it did a fine job, impressed me really. When seen as large as possible you can see each individual eye lash reflected on her retina, pretty cool! I then hit this with my normal Portraiture work flow & slight glamour treatment, removed a bunch of small hairs in between the nose, shaped her brows and did some very minor burning to bring out her cheek bone a little bit and that's it. The shadow is all natural just using proper exposure settings and shooting tight to prevent any of the background in the room from showing. Alexa's eyes are usually a nice blue but she was wearing a purple shirt which turns them a wild greenish aqua blue seen here. She's my favorite model and loves to have her photo taken so we both make out on the deal whenever I want to do a portrait to keep my skills sharp ;) I like this one so much I'll be ordering it in a large format lustre print or possibly a canvas to hang on my office wall! ~I just love my kids ~ Hope you all like it, Have a Great Day everyone ! 10-30-08 Natural lenses A tiny spider web and a misty morning give so many lenses ! Hard to keep every drop sharp and to focus on the picture given through the drops ! This one came out good enough among many other shots. Can you see what was behind ? ^^
The Eyes Thu. November 6, 2008 (Day 206) I'm still sorting some files from photo shoot last weekend, and I think this one deserve the spot. I took some pics today but not too crazy about them. They only deserve to be in the Alternate gallery. Hmm... I need a good rest tonight. Have a good evening all.
30.11.08 - Peace and Contemplation This image was left over from a couple of days ago when I did the misty collage. I always felt that I could do something else with this, and in the end this is just a sepia photo filter, but it conveys the feelings I wanted to get across, so I'm really happy with it. At the time I sloppily let the back of my car intrude into the photo, so that was cloned out. But otherwise it is just a B&W conversion, an adjustment of contrast and the sepia filter. I love these misty days with the sun trying to break through, and the stark silhouettes of the trees, mind you, it was bloody cold :) There is an alternative treatment here which emphasises the cold a bit more; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4328734_9ZqLR#427338235_SzU46 For those of you that asked about my curry night, it was a lot of fun. I love cooking, especially Indian food, and this was a chance to show off a bit with friends. They brought liquid refreshment, I did the food, and we all got totally stuffed! I'm now eating the leftovers, which are even tastier than last night :)
12-03: I took this Monday evening at next to a pond near the Environmental Learning Center. We've been having some awesome sunsets here lately. I think this one looks kind of like a painted sky! Unfortunately, it's a little soft because this was handheld and the VR switch on my lens was switched to off. That VR really does work!
I took this picture at an exhibition of Eduard Munch's drawings. Was awarded gold medal from our national Photographic Society
Frozen Tobolsk Kremlin. (1.2.2012) Off to Rome tomorrow afternoon so may be MIA the rest of the week. Hope everyone's enjoyed their holidays & renewed for a fresh start to 2012.
May 22... For the last 3 days we had a visit of 5 family members. We were very busy entertaining them so I had little time to post pictures. One of them was my youngest granddaughter, a real darling, so I shall share this picture with you
Sunday, December 30, 2012 "LIGHTS AND REFLECTIONS" "How much you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And so it is with life, which, for many of us becomes one big gigantic test followed by one big gigantic lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word.....grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, the darkness and the light." ~ Philosophy SOOC, other than the frames, which were created with Picnik.......unfortunately, the picnik is over. As announced earlier, Picnik closed on April 19, 2012. The "Christmas in Arizona" 2011 entire gallery is here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/19881997_k7vHJ6#!i=1595885649&k=SVSM4TJ Two days until New Year's Day (2013)......
