7/29/15 - Groom helping the bride with part of her gown; I just liked the light and the view of the couple with the trees and green around. Thanks for your warm response to my shot of the sunflowers. I love those flowers, too! A lot of terrific shots today, but I am very sad about John Loguk's giving up his photography. Seems like there is something wrong when a talented and skilled photographer like John cannot make a go or it.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011 "PULLING STRAWS?" (The Metamorphosis) "Remember when looking in the mirror, it is always looking back at you; the reflections seen are only ever as kind or as ill as your own projections." ~ Morrigan I didn't have to pull straws for this one.......woo hoo!!! This is MY FIRST PP'd IMAGE (focal b/w, uncropped, however). I stepped outside of my comfort zone. Furthermore, I am such a "visual" person. On Sunday, after creating yesterday's POTD using marbles and the mirror, I decided to see what image I could create with straws and the mirror. Too much time on my hands? Well, all work and no play....... you know what they say. The original version of the photo can be viewed here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/15299231_BkGGq#1168324428_2gjWC I am overwhelmingly appreciative of your comments regarding yesterday's "Marbelicious" photo. It landed in the #8 spot. SmugMuggers rock!!!!!! ***#6 photo of the day and all time**** (photo taken and pp'd on 1/23/2011) My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com
Sunday, May 15, 2011 "ANTIQUE CHEVY" (The Metamorphosis) "Keep calm and drive a Chevy!" ~ Author Unknown Linda (aka Lgood) is one of the absolute best at capturing automobile shots and their reflections, and I immediately thought of her when I spotted this GM classic. Unfortunately, there wasn't an information card, so I am unsure as to the year of this "oldie but goodie." My hubby's guess is it's a "1930 something Chevy." The pink sign made spectators chuckle. It warned, "UNLESS YOU ARE NUDE.....PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEVY! BUCKLES, BELTS, AND BUTTONS SCRATCH." As you can see, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. The original image can be viewed here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/gallery/16609546_tdrqK#!i=1274849067&k=9MMHm66&lb=1&s=A Your comments on yesterday's "Got Mail" POTD are really appreciated; you all are really a wonderful community of photographers who are also supportive and helpful. God is and has been exceptionally kind to all of us; have a blessed and safe Sunday, everyone. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 "TIMELESS TULIPS" (The Metamorphosis) "Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way." ~ Edward de Bono What a difference a day makes! Here's the "remix" version of yesterday's "Timeless Tulips" photo created with a Picnik effect. Unfortunately, the picnik is over. As announced earlier, Picnik closed on April 19, 2012. The family and I are pulling for the "young guns" of OKC. Go Thunder!!! Have a terrific Tuesday. ***#1 photo of the day and all-time*** (abstract version created and original photo taken on 3/13/2012) My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com
08/29/09 - I took more candle shots last night. This is the same set-up as the night before, but I used a different candle style. What I was going for was the perspective of high in the front and low in the back. Not just a curve but a curve with an interesting height perspective in it. Mostly I was just having fun with glass and reflections and seeing if I could produce a pretty picture...maybe something for a romantic greeting card. But, coming up with catchy titles is not my thing, so, here you have it title free:-) Dirkster, here's the set-up: http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Art/Glass-Appeal-16/9421013_LHGKh#633028939_z3Uuy Yes, I was bathroom shooting. To get this effect, you need two mirrors that are reasonably parallel to each other. I just happen to have a small medicine cabinet with a mirror door on the right wall and another mirror over the sink. You open the medicine cabinet door and waa laa you have two roughly parallel mirrors. Nice thing about this set-up is that it was at a normal height for shooting without a lot of bending. Complications: The darn flame was ALL OVER THE PLACE despite me doing everything I could to keep the air in the room from moving. Sometimes if I'd wait a minute or two between shots it would cycle straight and still for 3-5 seconds and then resume it's dance. I'd try to take my pic when it was more or less still but that was hard. Amazing how you stop breathing when trying to take a 3 second picture. Joey was with me around 8PM for 45 minutes helping me, and Johnny popped in and out a few times. Joey has gotten pretty good about gently taking the pic and understands why we can't move the camera. This was Party Lite candle wax, and at the right temp, it melts completely liquid. I put the candle holder in the oven at 175 to to melt the wax quicker. But, in the bathroom, over time the wax started to get solid again. I have one great all liquid shot, but there are a few things about that pic that bother me, so I chose not to post it. But, I thought the liquified wax was pretty cool. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Art/Glass-Appeal-16/9421013_LHGKh#633186200_Ddoh7 Anyway....................... You guys have a great weekend! 2 more days and I will be off call and much happier... Maryann
04/12/11- Tulips at the Riverbanks Botanical Gardens Not only does the Riverbanks Zoo have a lot wonderful animals, it also has an attached botanical gardens. There was one bed of these lovely multicolored tulips, and even though it was cloudy, I snapped away. The boys helped me take this shot each of them standing over the tulips holding back empty stems: http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Inspirations/Inspirations/10386893_s5msk#1247830528_KUafV Glad you all enjoyed the owl shot... Thanks. HAGD, Maryann

"BALANCING ACT"

"I love straight-forward people - makes life ten times easier." ~ Author Unknown

A "play date/play day" with our youngest grand-prince.....

I love the appearance of the green leaves growing as a vine on the wire, as well as how the red painted poles provide a burst of my favorite color. Photographed in the same general locale as my yesterday's photo.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
