July 24, 2013 This is one of the windows in the beautiful Bethel Methodist Church near the now non-existent town of Boz, Texas about 3 miles from where we live. The current church was built in 1924 and stands across the streeet from an old cemtary that was established in approximately 1860. It is a lovely, small church and just a real gem in the area. It was used in the opening and closing scenes of the movie "Places in the Heart" that was filmed around Waxahachie's general area. The church that was seen most in the movie was in nearby Palmer, Texas. According to a local blog, This church was used in the beginning and the end of the movie. At the end was an emotional scene about forgiveness. It's a very interesting peaceful setting. The church is in the vicinity of the community of Boz. Mallard - taken near Olympia, Wa.
3/28/15 - Museum of Contemporary Indian Art, Santa Fe; we thought the painted poles were very interesting and creative. This is a small museum but it has some wonderful art! Thanks for your comments and best wishes on my birthday! It was 75 degrees here today...gorgeous! Tomorrow is going to be even warmer.
Wellington Arch, with its bronze 'quadriga', a four horse chariot of war, being visited by the angel of peace. The local time for this shot was 6:50 am. (If you're viewing the EXIF data, you'll see that my camera was still on EDT for the USA.) DP026-2015 Posted Monday, January 26; processed ditto. There was mist in the air, and heavy dew on the ground when I walked over to Hyde Park Corner, and later Green Park, from our hotel on Piccadilly. I think there were more planes in the air than there were pedestrians in the park at that time, early on a Saturday morning. Taken Saturday, August 25, 2007 Hyde Park Corner, London, UK Title: Wings Over Hyde Park Corner Thanks so much for the generous response to yesterday's post of the Canada Gate between Green Park and Buckingham Palace.
Another in my informal series of shots that have naturally occuring holiday colors of red and green. This is one of the hanging baskets at the conservatory. Each contained, in order of decreasing visual impact: poinsettia, grown for its colorful foliage, a second type of foliage plant (pale green), some flowering plant with small red blossoms on narrow stalks (maybe a kind of salvia or sage?), and a third foliage plant with frilly divided tops which might be some kind of dwarf papyrus - just a guess. DP341-2014 Posted Sunday, December 7; processed December 6 from a photo taken ditto. This is the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which precipitated the U.S.A. entry into World War II. Take time to reflect on the heroism of those who fought back and who attempted to rescue the sailors on the sunken and sinking ships, as well as giving aid to those caught in the land attacks. Title: Red and Green Natural Scene - IN10406 Thanks for the comments on my mystery mallard shot yesterday and the feedback as to a likely interpretation. All are welcome and appreciated.
I just wanted to say thanks so much for all the lovely comments yesterday. Have a wonderful day.

The Paper Kite is of Southeast Asian origin. [Wiki]         Link to Photo Without Frame        Thank You for Making this Daily Photo Tied for the #1 Pick on 02-26-2015
