Parachutists Before the Game - at the Air Force/Army game Saturday, a pre-game performance by parachutists from the Air Force Academy and West Point. The man with the flag is a retired Air Force parachutist and a double amputee, who lost both legs in a mid-air collision with his partner, who died in the accident. The other parachutist in this shot is a West Point cadet. Please view this image in the largest sizes to see the detail of the parachutists, including the prothestics of the man with the flag. I was amazed at the response to my shot of part of our yard during a recent snowstorm. You all have made me consider using it as our Christmas card this year. Hope everyone has a good day today!
Des-0253 My energetic niece, taunting me this afternoon at her brother's birthday party. Normally one to ham it up for the camera, she was being a bit mischievous today and tried to hide behind the door before I could get a shot off. She almost succeeded but ultimately ended up giving me what easily turned out to be my favorite shot of the day. Thanks for all the comments on the baseball shot I posted a couple days ago. I haven't had time to follow up/comment much yet, but I've certainly enjoyed easing back in and seeing/hearing from a lot of familiar folks.
1-11: Saturday morning we drove up Highways 7 and did some hiking in Wild Basin. This is "Chapel on the Rock" built in 1935, part of Saint Malo Catholic Retreat off of Highway 7. I think it's a neat looking old chapel and it resides in a very beautiful setting. Behind is Mt. Meeker. As you can see, it was another very windy morning up in the mountains. A lot of snow was blowing off the mountain peaks.
Frozen Tobolsk Kremlin. (1.2.2012) Off to Rome tomorrow afternoon so may be MIA the rest of the week. Hope everyone's enjoyed their holidays & renewed for a fresh start to 2012.
The road less traveled is the best one. Shortly it turns to gravel and puts you next to the rivers edge where the foliage lights up the viewfinder. Wisconsin, the road to Strong Falls. Thanks for making yesterday's photo go to the front page and all the awesome comments!!!! Paul Sr.
7470: I'm back - sort of: My computer issues rage on, I can't wait until I get my new machine up and running!! This piece of junk seems to be running again (Let's see how long that lasts lol) Anyway - This is the steam locomotive 7470 from the North Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway, NH. Sunlight - I had to wait that the sun settle a bit before shooting this one. I wanted the tree to glow. Cheers - JY
"How Much is that Doggy in the Window? " This little guy waits at the window every morning for his master to get home from work and you can`t get a bark or a smile out of him while he waits with this sad , little face. I pass by his house most mornings and he hides behind the curtain , but he was braver today. I`m very tired so this will be my post for the 29th.This was the best I could do with glass between him and the camera..I wanted to pet his sadness away. This was taken last year 2011 and , I 've just met the dog owner this am June 19,2012. . Told her that I have this doggy shot for her and she seemed delighted to give me her address so I can drop it off. Thank you to the smug mugger who helped me to sharpen the colors!

August 23, 2011 hi everyone! Thanks for all of the great comments. We are loving the weather and low daily highs of around 80 degrees in New Mexico. The vacation is going great. Many times we are in areas with no cell coverage - which is ok, except that I also don't have the use of my iPad to comment with. So forgive me for the sparse comments. This is a shot of the floor of the Texas State capital building in Austin, Texas. It was taken a couple of months ago but I really liked how it was a little off kilter. Check it out in X2 - I think you'll enjoy the details.
March 10, 2011 Up close & personal with a real classic beauty. I'm sorry I didn't get the details on this lovely car, but I was too enthralled with it to snap a photo of the tag. I really loved the colors and the reflections in the front fenders were amazing. One of my all time favorites, and that's high praise for as many classic cars as I've seen. Hope you all enjoy, and that this beauty brings you a happy smile today. Thanks to everyone for your very kind comments on my photos over the last few days. I'm still on the road, and working hard. I've not been able to comment as much as I'd like to and enjoy all of your wonderful photos, but the plan is to get caught up this weekend. Have a good one! Linda
