7/25/2014 ~ Sand and Dunes Oil Paint version of the sand dunes at Pensacola Beach, Florida. Oil Paint is a fun filter but easy to go overboard with! I think it works best with long, curvy lines, such as these blades of grass. Thank you so very much for the wonderful comments on yesterday's shot of the table in the rain. My apologies if I missed you in commenting in return! Yesterday turned out to be a very busy day, running until late into the evening. Happy Friday!
07.25.14 Bessie the Cow Yeah, this is a dog, but when Wayne adopted her she came with the name of Bessie the Cow. Wayne likes to tell people that that is her full name. Yesterday I felt terrible and got very little done. Hopefully today I will feel more productive.
7/25/14 - Labradoodle? I thought his light brown eyes were beautiful. Thanks for your comments on my latest kaleidoscope.
24/07/14 Daisy Maisy,,,,and I love this simple little flower!! These are the tiny ones that grow in fields. Taken near the stream.
Douglas A-1E(AD-5) Skyraider... The Douglas A-1 Skyraider (formerly AD) was an American single-seat attack aircraft that saw service between the late 1940s and early 1980s. It became a piston-powered, propeller-driven anachronism in the jet age, and was nicknamed "Spad", after the French World War I fighter. The Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful career, even inspiring its straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor, the A-10 Thunderbolt II. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_A-1_Skyraider Planes of Fame Air Show, May 3-4, 2014 Chino Airport Chino, CA http://planesoffame.org/ Thanks for your views and comments, much appreciated! Critiques welcome... 25 July 2014
07/24/14 - Spiderweb at the Linn Cove Viaduct My Blog I was able to take this neat spiderweb shot with the help of Donnie's finger to get the focus right.  This web is soooooo tiny and delicate, and the light was very low.  I'm glad I had the help!  What an odd square shape but interesting natural pattern. SmugMug Link The spiderweb shot was taken while walking on the Tanawha Trail under the Linn Cove Viaduct.  What a fascinating engineering feat and beautiful spot in nature. Yates Mill Pond - December 26, 2010
11/05/09 - Historic Yates Mill Pond at Sunset I posted a picture of the actual water wheel in my gallery earlier this year. In this picture, you can't see the wheel, but you get this lovely reflection instead. After Joey's flu shot, I decided to make the best of a wonderful afternoon and go for a quick hike around the mill pond. Unfortunately, we were really there a good 30-60 minutes too late to be taking good pictures. I had to bump up the saturation on this one to improve the color. This is the same shot taken on 10/26 last year when the sun was better and the tree closest to the mill still had yellow leaves on it. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Yates-Mill-Pond/Yates-Mill-Photo-Contest-2009/7088136_34LZC#454338880_TdGL2 In both cases, the sky looks better in the reflection than in the final shot. I'm not sure how to get around that...especially in last night's picture when the sky really didn't have much blue in it. We still have not had a frost or freeze at my house, but it look like it's coming Friday night into Saturday. I am storing ceramic bird baths and pots and taking in fragile plants that I can save. I sure wish today was Friday... HAGD, Maryann
February 10... Beach #4. Almost every day I take Blif for a walk along the beach. Especially in autumn and winter the sky puts up magnificent shows. The other day this sky came up covering most colors even a bit of green at the left. The show went on for app. 10 minutes, and then it was all over.
I waited for 6 months for the sun to go down in the midle of the road. Fortunately it did not rain that day. I brought a boy with me to wave good night to the sun. Suddenly I saw the birds comming from the left, and got them in "the decive moment".
Yesterday I woke up at sunrise. The sun was barely over the horizon at southeast. As I looked out of my bedroom window I saw this landscape to the northwest with the full moon as a golden coin. I at once grabbed my camera, opened the window even as the temperature was minus 10° centigrade and made some shots. Here is one of them. 10 minutes later the sun was well over the horizon, the sky was lit and the moon hardly to be seen.
