You cannot make progress without making decisions.” ~ Jim Rohn This was photographed from the vehicle (passenger's side) three days ago when we got four to five inches of snow between 12:15 PM and approximately 5:00 PM (nonstop). My hubby had seen this scene on his way home from work and pointed it out to me as we were riding around enjoying the snow scenes in our city. Did you notice the light in the window? I didn't until after I uploaded the photo. February 28, 2015 As I mentioned before in one of my POTDs recently the Safari Club International (SCI) show has a lot of booths with items for sale to attract both the males and females that visit. Here's a booth (one of many) directed specifically at the ladies that visited the show. Every year I go to this booth and admire the exotic leather purses that are on display. The colors and the leathers are just exquisite. I overhead the owner talking to a customer about custom designing a purse to the customer's specifications. I can't even imagine what that would cost, but I assure you that it's not in my budget. :-) "I'm never without Nerds and peanut M&M's. I have a sweet tooth! I have an unlimited supply on hand at home, but the candy packs in my purse are not for sharing." ~ Joanna Garcia Thank you for your comments and critiques. Have a colorful day today my friends! Here is another sampler of filter effects applied to the same starting image. In this case I started with an image of a hallway in the Michigan League, with a domed ceiling and lights reflecting in a polished stone floor. All the filters are various so-called distortion filters, each of which comes with a variety of presets, and within each preset there is the ability to generate a large number of randomly chosen variations on the settings of the sliders that control the appearance of the distortion. Great fun. DP059-2015 Posted Saturday, February 28; created ditto If you couldn't tell, the starting image is in the center. I have uploaded full-sized version of it and the eight distortions here: http://arctangent.smugmug.com/Photography/Creative-Alterations/Proj-3-Distortion-Filter-Comp/47750892_4hCc87 Starting image taken October 25, 2014 Title: Filter Sampler - Variations on a Lighted Hallway
My best friend Clare Bear the other day was making comments on Facebook such as 'why are you staying up there'? (I think this was in response to a typical Grotty Seaside pic.) Well if this isn't a good enough reason, I don't know what is. To walk along the sand at dawn or at dusk and see the winter sun aching over the beach, and marvel at it - like you're caught in the surrealism of a Pink Floyd song. And sometimes be the only one there. And sometimes have to prize my camera hand out of my boyfriend's 'cos he doesn't easily let go of it. You just don't see stuff like this in London. Maybe you just don't see stuff like this anywhere else. (Maybe I stopped looking.) We came up here last year for varying reasons - work related, children related, ex-wife related, and Jay took a six month secondment with his company. Well, ten months later, we're still here and there's no sign of us leaving yet. And we've talked about it and thought maybe, just maybe, we CBFA to go back. There's cliches that come to mind about the pace of life being slower, and the housing market being cheaper - but at the end of the day - the hour and 45 it takes by car to get back to East London - well, you could do that getting from one side of the city to another. And I'm writing again. I haven't written anything for over ten years. And I know it's better now. And Jay is writing - he gets up in the night and has a song in his head and has to get it out - and it's better than anything. He says he writes better songs being up here. I was worried his music would suffer but it's gone the other way. So, at the moment I'm happy to stay.
Under a stand of trees in the park, next door. More sunshine today but wow , it was cold! The coldest February since 1979. Bought a navy blue, arctic temperature jacket while the sales are on, because it is warmer than the one I have now. 27/02/15

February 28 2015 Epcot It was 57 yesterday and today it's raining. So much for Florida. It's minus 7 in Chicago though.
27.02.15 - Another Night, Another Guided Photo Walk The old historic part of Lincoln is without doubt the most popular venue for my walks among the people who pay to come with me, but I also love the area around Brayford Pool and the University as shown here. They could hardly be more different subject matter wise, and everyone loves the old historic buildings, but I think there is more variation around the university. Some of these shots I've shared before, but I know that others will be new to everyone because they are to me! I love going out with experienced photographers because they always spot things that I've never noticed before and the walk becomes a two way process rather than just me sharing my knowledge. I think my favourite here is left centre because I love the composition so much, but the "total bokeh" blurred light reflections bottom left is a new one for me. Hopefully Smug have sorted their problems out, I was beginning to fear that they were letting the communities finally lapse, fingers crossed.
