Saturday, December 27, 2014 "PURPLE FOUNTAIN GRASS" “Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence.” ~ Hal Borland "Of all the ornamental grasses, of which there are many, purple fountain grass (aka Pennisetum setaceum ‘Rubrum’) is probably one of the most popular. The purple or burgundy-colored foliage and soft, fuzzy-like blooms (which are followed by purplish seedheads) make a bold statement in the garden—on their own or grouped with other plantings. Growing purple fountain grass is easy and requires little maintenance once established." ~ Reprinted text from here: http://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/foliage/purple-fountain-grass/grow-purple-fountain-grass.htm Have a great weekend! Hyacinth macaw at sunrise (best larger) The hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) is the largest of the macaws and is an endangered species. A family of wild birds lived a short walk from my hotel in the Pantanal, but they wouldn't tolerate a close approach and flew off screeching alarm calls everytime we came within photo distance of the tree. Early yesterday morning before sunrise I very carefully and very slowly snuck up to the tree where they were nesting and managed to get a few shots, including of this juvenile, as the sun first hit the tree. They flew off as they usually do to feed after sunrise with no alarm calls, so I didn't disturb their natural behaviour. 18/11/14 www.allenfotowild.com

February 19, 2013 "Oh............ my poor, aching feet!" Anyone that has ever worked a trade show or convention knows that it's long days and it's hard on your feet and back because you stand almost 100% of the time. And the Safari Club International show was no different. This lady and another stood out in front of the booth across the aisle from Bill's booth, all day every day. They never sat down. I could feel her pain. For the deer hunters that are members of the Daily Community, I invite you to check out the following photo of some of the most incredible antlers I've ever seen. http://lgood.smugmug.com/Travel/Vacations/18186464_wfxNtK#!i=2371099824&k=WNx43SP Have a red-letter day today my friends! Friday, December 26, 2014 " 'TWAS THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS" "There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles." ~ Unknown Author This is one of over what looks to have been about 300 Santa Claus's from a lady's private collection that were displayed in a large room as well as throughout the library/museum. The themes ranged from "Sports Santas to Cooking Santas." And the story goes like this........... 'Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house, Not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse. Santa is relaxing in his La-Z-Boy Recliner, Glad there are no post Christmas day complainers or whiners. He is indulging in William Curley's scrumptiously delicious, Mouthwatering, yummylicious "House Milk Chocolate Truffles" (my favorite) In hopes that Mrs. Claus is in the kitchen fixing supper! ~ by God's Child (Me) To order, William Curley's official website is here: http://williamcurley.co.uk/index.html Thanks for your Christmas well-wishes yesterday; I hope everyone had a blessed day with family and friends! May 16, 2014 "I love to dance and perform the Argentine tango - it breathes love!" ~ Gilles Marini Here's another shot from the tango exhibition in Argentina. The dance is so fun to watch, and the costumes are just awesome. No one does it better (IMHO) than the Argentinians. Enjoy! TGIF My friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
