24.07.14 - Let the Games Commence This is the centre of town at the moment, with a big screen so that people can watch the Commonwealth Games while shopping! There is a continental food market on the High Street behind me, and I did spend a few minutes on the astroturf eating a French Tart while England's Brownlee brothers took gold and silver in the triathlon :)
7/25/14 - Labradoodle? I thought his light brown eyes were beautiful. Thanks for your comments on my latest kaleidoscope.
Douglas A-1E(AD-5) Skyraider... The Douglas A-1 Skyraider (formerly AD) was an American single-seat attack aircraft that saw service between the late 1940s and early 1980s. It became a piston-powered, propeller-driven anachronism in the jet age, and was nicknamed "Spad", after the French World War I fighter. The Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful career, even inspiring its straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor, the A-10 Thunderbolt II. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_A-1_Skyraider Planes of Fame Air Show, May 3-4, 2014 Chino Airport Chino, CA http://planesoffame.org/ Thanks for your views and comments, much appreciated! 07/24/14 - Spiderweb at the Linn Cove Viaduct My Blog I was able to take this neat spiderweb shot with the help of Donnie's finger to get the focus right.  This web is soooooo tiny and delicate, and the light was very low.  I'm glad I had the help!  What an odd square shape but interesting natural pattern. SmugMug Link The spiderweb shot was taken while walking on the Tanawha Trail under the Linn Cove Viaduct.  What a fascinating engineering feat and beautiful spot in nature. Friday, July 25, 2014 "ALONE" “It is better to be alone than in bad company." ~ George Washington I like sitting by the window, bird watching, and taking in the activity on the "Rez" when dining at this restaurant. Afterwards, I followed this duck and snapped several shots, but I favored this one. It looked so sad, despairing, and lonesome to me. I watched it get out of the water and make its way to dry land - all the while keeping its eyes on the ducks that remained in the water. The weather was perfect and the day was beautiful. Have a day of being alone, but not lonely - or in great company; the choice is yours! 24/07/14 Daisy Maisy,,,,and I love this simple little flower!! These are the tiny ones that grow in fields. Taken near the stream.
07.25.14 Bessie the Cow Yeah, this is a dog, but when Wayne adopted her she came with the name of Bessie the Cow. Wayne likes to tell people that that is her full name. Yesterday I felt terrible and got very little done. Hopefully today I will feel more productive.

"Heavenly Swing" “The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation that you ever had.”~Anonymous~

Field of Mustard Flowers Summer in Idaho is a beautiful thing. These mustard fields blew my mind with their sunshine yellow color!
11/05/09 - Historic Yates Mill Pond at Sunset I posted a picture of the actual water wheel in my gallery earlier this year. In this picture, you can't see the wheel, but you get this lovely reflection instead. After Joey's flu shot, I decided to make the best of a wonderful afternoon and go for a quick hike around the mill pond. Unfortunately, we were really there a good 30-60 minutes too late to be taking good pictures. I had to bump up the saturation on this one to improve the color. This is the same shot taken on 10/26 last year when the sun was better and the tree closest to the mill still had yellow leaves on it. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Yates-Mill-Pond/Yates-Mill-Photo-Contest-2009/7088136_34LZC#454338880_TdGL2 In both cases, the sky looks better in the reflection than in the final shot. I'm not sure how to get around that...especially in last night's picture when the sky really didn't have much blue in it. We still have not had a frost or freeze at my house, but it look like it's coming Friday night into Saturday. I am storing ceramic bird baths and pots and taking in fragile plants that I can save. I sure wish today was Friday... HAGD, Maryann
