A Horse is a Horse, Of Course, Of Course18 April 2014 -- 108/365Smithfield, Rhode IslandAdmit it. You now have the theme song for Mister Ed stuck in your head, don't you! That happens to me every time I see this horse standing outside his small barn. I also see him lying down outside this barn quite often, which is very strange since I didn't think it was healthy for a horse to lie down. Of course, my knowledge of horses doesn't extend beyond anything you can learn from the aforementioned TV show. In any case, I really liked the setup of this scene today, and the lighting on the barn really accentuated the faded wash on the doors and walls. The original plan was an HDR waterfall scene, but I couldn't pass up this setting.Post processing stared with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment and a selective burn was applied in PSE.
1-16: Thursday morning we woke up to thick fog again. It lasted till about noon. I was able to go out on my lunch break and take some shots along the river right after the fog lifted. The fog had frozen to the tree branches and bushes. I was able to get some shots before it all melted.

Can you figure it out? DP107-2014 Posted April 17; processed ditto Even at highest zoom in Photoshop I can't see any connection between the two small tilted icicles and the roof line. Yet all the icicles in the shot were stationary when I took it. Unless there was a temporary point of fusion between the larger of the 'floating' icicles and the large one it seems to intersect with, I don't see what was supporting it. I've cropped the relevant section of the top portion of the icicles, enlarged it, and posted it here (http://smu.gs/1l61uGl) to make it easier to see what is going on. I tried adding that as an inset to this shot, but it disfigured it so, covering up too much of the scene, that I decided to make it a separate post in my 'Icicle Mania' gallery. Taken April 16, 2014 (Title: No Visible Means of Support) Many thanks to those of you who found my late posts of the past few days and left comments. Much appreciated.
April 17. I'm constantly chasing the squirrels away from my bird feeders and sometimes you just have to take their picture.
