Fisheye view of our woodstove.... One of the add-on lenses I was given for my iPhone - plus a wide angle, a macro and a telephoto. They are lots of fun to play with, just wish I could get outside and really put them through their paces. 01.27.15
1/26/2015 My posting & commenting will be limited until Thursday or Friday this week. Bald Eagle - from a previous series I took earlier in the month. Taken near Olympia, Wa. I really appreciate the comments!
1/27/15 - White gumballs Thanks for your comments on my shot of the broken auto glass. What happened in the accident, which I did not see, was a car came along and tried to turn on ice and slid into a neighborhood transformer box, a telephone company box, and a light pole. It snapped off the light pole. The glass is from some damage sustained by the car. Every day I walk past this spot and just decided the glass looked neat.
Hummingbird - I am a bit ambivalent about this shot because the hummer's iridescence is just SOOO high voltage, but I decided that maybe it was worth featuring as a daily. This is best viewed in the largest sizes. Quite a lot of you are wondering about the shutter speed. It is 1/1600 sec. I've found I can usually freeze hummers at about 1/1200 sec. or faster. I bumped the speed up on this day because it was exceptionally bright and sunny! Thanks to all of you who commented on my shot of the white cactus flower. Much of the snow melted today, although it kept on snowing until about 11 a.m. The wedding shoot went well, I think, although I've not yet looked closely at the images. They'll keep me busy processing for several weeks. Hope every has a chance to get outside and enjoy nicer weather today!
Beautiful mallard...taken at a lake in Colorado!
Arizona State Fair - 2013 and the Big Ferris Wheel        Link to Photo Without Frame         Thank You for Making this Daily Photo the #1 Pick on 10-21-2013
6/27/14 - At the Transportation Museum in Embudo, NM Thanks for your comments on my shot in b/w of the sunflower bud. Much appreciated!
6/7/14 - Glass in a shop in Madrid, NM; definitely better in the largest size. Madrid is a small artist's colony about twenty minutes south of Santa Fe. It was a more or less abandoned mining town and artists began buying the properties and opening galleries and studios. There is an eclectic mix of things and quite a few restaurants...a very nice day trip from Santa Fe. This shop had a lot of different things, but you know me and glass...I just had to shoot this window display. Thanks for your warm response to my shot of the little gallery garden area. Much appreciated.
July 6: Mr Spidey Yes I know, ooohhh youck a bug :). I was out looking for a pod, had my 18-200 on and was prowling the neighborhood. I found nothing spectacular, just a few shot. Most of the flowers are dead now due to the excessive heat and the lack of water we have had. I had found a whole 4 shots which were not much when I spotted this guy on the weeping cherry in my front yard. I went in the house and got the 105 macro and the R1 flash rig. I set the flash units on the ring at 0 EV and -1.3 EV and went out. He was still there so I fired away. I took about 30 shots to get a few good ones. He was a fast moving little guy and I chased him around the tree while he was spinning his web. In the end he stopped and was doing some furious work with the front legs and then disappeared. When I looked he was on the ISO knob of the camera checking me out. He is only the size of the thumbnail on my little finger so he is small. I did crop the shot for less leave and better view. I added +5 black and +16 clarity in Lightroom.

Immature Peregrine Falcon - very close fly by near Olympia, Wa. I really appreciate all the comments! Happy New Year! Update: Thanks for the question Terry. I believe this the same immature Peregrine that I've been taking pictures of the week or so. I also appreciate her cooperation :)

12-26: Another from the golf course on Wednesday morning. There was a heavy frost on the trees which, in this shot, was helping to pick up a glow from the sun.
