Friday, March 6, 2015 "OLDE WORLD TREASURES" "It is easily overlooked that what is now called vintage was once brand new." ~ Tony Visconti Frigid and Flashback Friday....... The temp is 24 degrees in our city and remnants of the ice and snow that we got yesterday morning remains. I didn't take any photos of the snow yesterday and stayed inside all day. Come on, Spring:)! Known as “Arizona’s country town,” Dewey-Humboldt was formed in 2004 as a merger of two neighboring communities in the Agua Fria River Valley. The combination brought the rich farming culture of Dewey together with Humboldt, a mining community. "Dewey-Humboldt is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The population of the town was 3,894 according to the 2010 census. The Dewey-Humboldt area was a census-designated place at the 2000 census, at which time its population was 6,295." ~ Reprinted from Wikipedia Thanks for perusing, commenting on, and/or giving my photos a "thumbs up!" 03-06-2015 "Before the Freeze" It was 70 day before yesterday and I saw these beautiful flowers blooming. With the ice and snot that came through yesterday, I'm sure they are not as pretty. Shot with my iPhone. Thank you for comments on my photos. Donna
05.03.15 - Magical Forest I've used the "Orton effect" of panning the camera while shooting many times before, but never in almost total darkness like this. The most common technique is to pan quickly at about 1/6th of a second, and this works great in daylight creating impressionistic images. I started out experimenting with very long exposures, 30 seconds+, of the lake at Boultham Park around dusk, but they didn't work our quite as I'd intended. Soon is was dark so I decided to hang around and play with this technique. I got some very nive ghostly images of the trees, but my favourites are these with the orange mist effect on the ground. The "mist" is actually the grass illuminated by streetlights about 30 metres behind me. The result is straight out of camera.
