Sept. 21. The color Fuchsia. Brought to you by this Cockscomb flower. Indigo's color challenge.
9/21/14 - For Indigo's single color challenge, Chihuly glass sculpture at the Denver Botanic Garden; she's challenged us to post blue on Sept. 28 and I'll have to come up with another blue image for that. However, this was the only single color shot I could get uploaded today, although I had some others in different colors that did not upload. Thanks for your comments on my most recent shot of the Garden of the Gods. Have a great Sunday!

Day 259: Monarch Butterfly - Sept 19. Its the time of the year when the last generation of the summer Monarch butterflies begin their migratory flight south for the winter. The number of Monarchs seen this year has declined quite a lot with more and more warnings being published about the dangers to the remaining population and the pleas for people to plant milkweed plants in their yards and public places. The Monarchs lay their eggs exclusively on the milkweed plants and then feed from them as they go through their development cycle. Milkweeds plants are being destroyed by overdevelopment and pesticide use. With this food, the fear is that the Monarch butterfly will become extinct.
I took this from a wider angle shot of a huge patch of goldenrod and applied a couple of filters. It can work, sort of, as an abstract and as a single color shot (if you focus just on the flowers and not the leaves). Kind of lame on both counts. My brain is on vacation. DP264-2014 Posted September 21; processed ditto Taken September 9 at Gallup Park Title: Abstract - Goldenrod, the Color and the Bloom IN7864

Sunday, September 21, 2014 "HIGH-SPIRITED HIBISCUS" "It's never too late to live happily-ever-after. Start today!" ~ Unknown Author SOOC, uncropped, flash didn't fire "White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the color of perfection. White means safety, purity, and cleanliness. As opposed to black, white usually has a positive connotation. White can represent a successful beginning. In heraldry, white depicts faith and purity. In advertising, white is associated with coolness and cleanliness because it's the color of snow. You can use white to suggest simplicity in high-tech products. White is an appropriate color for charitable organizations; angels are usually imagined wearing white clothes. White is associated with hospitals, doctors, and sterility, so you can use white to suggest safety when promoting medical products. White is often associated with low weight, low-fat food, and dairy products." ~ Reprinted texts from here: http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html Have a blessed day! September 21, 2014 In honor of Indigo's challenge to post a photo of a single color each Sunday!. This shot is mostly brown. I've been seeing on FB that Indigo is having a lot of issues, so I'm not sure she'll be able to post in the near future. I stay in touch and my heart goes out to her. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. This dried weed (?) pod drew my interest alongside one of the backroads where we hiked. I'm guessing the pods once were flowers, but I really don't know. There were many of these plants around, but they all looked like this one. Have a weed-free day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
This young man was very determined to get a goldfish. Eventually . . . he did.
