October 23, 2014 End of season mums.
23/10/14 The sun comes out and shines as if it were summer. We had a strange season with so much rain, but the Fall is making up for it. I put our blankets out in the sunshine on the patio chairs and Oscar holds them down , just in case a wind blows up. What a good kitty!
October 23, 2014 I have to tell you, the series of shots that I took at Horseshoe Bend made me very nervous. I DO NOT like heights, and in order to get the whole bend (and I didn't accomplish that task very well) you have to get really, really close to the edge of the sheer cliffs overlooking the natural horseshoe of the Colorado River. I remember the first shot on Smugmug that I ever saw of this iconic place was of Judy Horton (fotoeffects) laying on her belly at the edge of the cliff. I salute you Judy for your bravery - I couldn't do it. I thought about you, and tried to lay down, but those butterflies in my tummy just wouldn't let me do it. Thank goodness that Bill was there to set up my tripod for this 5 HDR shot and keep me steady. "I have been overcome by the beauty and richness of our life together, those early mornings setting out, those evenings gleaming with rivers and lakes below us, still holding the last light." ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh Have a lovely day today my friends. Thursday, October 23, 2014 "AUTUMN'S SPLENDOR" "I am so glad that I live in a world where there are Octobers." ~ L.M. Montgomery After church services, I photographed this flower arrangement in the lobby of a church that we visited in Madison, MS. In case you noticed, that "black hump" in the lower right is a result of me blackening out the church's magazine. I hope you're enjoying the arrival of fall/autumn wherever you are, and can take the time to really appreciate God's glory up close and personal. Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! September 7, 2013 This is a shot from underneath the Mesa Arch - shot after having been there well before sunrise, but the cloud cover didn't give us the glowing red of the iconic shots you've seen. Me, and 5 other photographers from all over the world waited for the sun to rise. One man was there from Sweden - he was certainly the one that traveled the furthest of the group gathered there that morning. After realizing that we weren't going to get the iconic shot we started to pack up and leave, But me and some of the others started taking different shots from and around the Mesa Arch. For this shot, I was "sitting" on the rocks at the bottom of the arch. I hope you can see the formation in the distance that is called The Old Washerwoman (check this photo out in Xlarge). From this vantage point, it's pretty easy to imagine that the structure in the distance does in fact look like a woman washing laundry on a rock. Constructive critiques are welcome Have a great day! Linda

Good Year Blimp... The term Goodyear Blimp has traditionally referred to any one of a fleet of airships operated by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, used mainly for advertising and capturing aerial views of live sporting events on television. The term blimp itself is defined as a non-rigid airship – without any internal structure, the pressure of lifting gas contained within the airship envelope maintains the vessel's shape. Since the launch of the Pilgrim in 1925, Goodyear has generally owned and operated airships of this type in its global public relations fleet. However, Goodyear is currently in the process of replacing its three U.S. non-rigid airships (blimps) with three new semi-rigid airships, each of which will have a rigid internal frame. Although technically incorrect, Goodyear plans to use "blimp" in reference to these new semi-rigid models. Wingfoot One, the first such model in Goodyear's U.S. fleet, was christened on August 23, 2014, near the company's world headquarters in Akron, Ohio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodyear_Blimp Thanks much for your views and comments! 22 October 2014
