5/27/15 - Art by Colin and Charles Parson at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center; I considered straightening some parts of this image but decided that the perspective of the photographer who is looking upon this scene adds some intangible "feeling" to the image. I've featured this work of art previously but whenever I see it, I can't help photographing it anew. Thanks for your comments on my shot of

First of the season At the Otmoor nature reserve, near Oxford, UK, this young and not very energetic damselfly chose to rest on my wife's shirt.

26.05.15 - Swan Family I'll be watching these guys over the coming weeks. I've been watching the nest at the old fishponds for a while and a couple of days ago noticed at least two babies had arrived. They have moved from the ponds to the adjacent river now, I'm pretty certain it is the same family, and two cygnets are definitely visible.
January 30.... Yesterday's cat lives in this old house. The cat is still there, but after the photo-session I knocked on the door and the cat was let in.

May 22, 2012 What the heck is this? Many of you will guess, but some may not. Let me say that first of all - I had pre-loaded this photo for my potd a week or so ago. However, I got sidetracked while working on it & failed to hide it. So it was "unveiled" a little early, and got a few comments ahead of time - which I really appreciate. So here it is again today for it's "second" unveiling. :-)) Give up on guessing what this is? It's a close up shot as my husband Bill is welding a piece of metal to another metal thingy (that's a technical term) in our home workshop. As mentioned on yesterday's potd - he gets so "in the groove" of doing whatever in his workshop that oftentimes he doesn't know that I've come in and am taking photos. He did know I was taking this shot, and we had a good time trying to get the shot just right because the glow from the welder was tricking the camera's sensor. I rather liked this one as it seems almost "other worldly" in it's appearance. Check it out in X2 or X3 - it's pretty cool. Thanks to everyone for you wonderful and fun comments on the photo I posted yesterday of Bill making sparks in the workshop! Have an out-of-this-world sort of day today my friends! Linda
May 27, 2015 This Chess piece was one of many beautiful pieces on display at an awesome booth at the Safari Club International show. The whole booth featured gorgeous chess sets that were just stunning. Hope you enjoy. "In life, as in chess, forethought wins." ~ Charles Buxton Thank you for your comments and critiques. Have a golden day today my friends! Linda http://www.lgood.smugmug.com
May 27 - Circumstances did not allow the time for me to get online later in the day but I will try to catch up with everyone today.

June 4, 2012 "All we need, really, is a change from a near frigid to a tropical attitude of mind." ~ Marjory Stoneman Douglas I haven't had much time (none almost) to take new photos lately, so I had to dip back into some of those that are "still in the can" to get this post for today. And, you'll likely see more in the coming days. I believe that this is a Dracaena plant. Help me out here PapaMugger......... Anyway, it was a beautiful plant. I've seen them before in the U.S. but the were smaller, potted plants. This one was in front of one of the city buildings in Nassau, Bahamas and it was like a small tree. I love the slender, colorful leaves. Yes, I'm woefully behind on possessing the photos from our trip to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. But rest assured, I'm working on them a little bit at a time. "-)) Frame created in PicMonkey. Photo SOOC. I'm headed out for another week of travel in the Valley of Texas. It will be a long, hard, hot and likely dusty week. I'll do my best to comment in the evenings. You guys are fantastic, and I learn so much from your work. Have a 'colorful' day today my friends, and a wonderful week. Linda
Beautiful reception room, Tabatabei Historic House, Kashan, Iran (best larger)

In Iran, honoring guests is a very important part of their culture. The most important part of a Muslem house is a guest room (reception room) which is situated in the Southeast part of the house. At the center of the front there is a five or seven door room with two small spaces attached to it. This room traditionally is beautifully decorated, often with mirror work.

I really like the play of the light, shadows, designs and colours in the room which combined to produce a very harmonius, pleasing effect.
