This Drummer Plays a Mean Drum...          Link to Photo Without Frame     Thank You for Making this Daily Photo the #1 Pick on 05-10-2014
July 29, 2014 A few weeks ago, Granddaughter Ashlee (in the middle) came out to spend the weekend with me and brought two of her friends. Lilly is on the left and Yasmine is on the right. On Saturday, they decided they wanted to do a photo shot. So they spent about 2 hours putting makeup on (my makeup), trying on clothes from my closet and creating their model "personas" . Here's the result. Lilly was the urban cowgirl (she really wanted to take my red cowboy boots home), Ashlee was the girl photo journalist (she doesn't wear glasses, but found some and the hat and strapped an old camera of mine around her neck), and Yasmin was the "girl singer" - gosh they had fun! They all took photos of each other, then called me out to take some "group" shots of them. Even Grandma had a good time. Have a fun-loving day today my friends. Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
07-25-2014 I found the colors and framing interesting enough to stop the car and shoot !

This image is registered with the US Copyright Office. www.colleenmgriffith.com www.facebook.com/colleen.griffith Photo of Dave King singlehandedly sailing his boat from San Francisco to Hawaii in the 2010 TransPac race. I captured this photo in the open ocean, just after he exited the San Francisco Bay. Needless to say, these were challenging shots to obtain - as my sailboat was going up and down and sideways, my subject was doing the same - and we definitely weren't in sync! Even open-ocean sailors reported the sailing conditions to be very severe that day. Articles of the race reported "Conditions were severe under the bridge, and got worse out in the ocean. It was so rough that Second Verse, a Cascade 36, was hit by a wave and knocked down until the spreaders were under water." Dave was competing against 14 boats of all types, broke his boom during the trip, and finished the race in 17 days and 3 hours. Not only did he place second in the race, he received the Single Handed Sailing Society's Belt Buckle, and the Foxxfyre Trophy for creative ingenuity under sail, because after breaking the boom in the race, he repaired it and kept on sailing! Incredible!
11/05/09 - Historic Yates Mill Pond at Sunset I posted a picture of the actual water wheel in my gallery earlier this year. In this picture, you can't see the wheel, but you get this lovely reflection instead. After Joey's flu shot, I decided to make the best of a wonderful afternoon and go for a quick hike around the mill pond. Unfortunately, we were really there a good 30-60 minutes too late to be taking good pictures. I had to bump up the saturation on this one to improve the color. This is the same shot taken on 10/26 last year when the sun was better and the tree closest to the mill still had yellow leaves on it. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Yates-Mill-Pond/Yates-Mill-Photo-Contest-2009/7088136_34LZC#454338880_TdGL2 In both cases, the sky looks better in the reflection than in the final shot. I'm not sure how to get around that...especially in last night's picture when the sky really didn't have much blue in it. We still have not had a frost or freeze at my house, but it look like it's coming Friday night into Saturday. I am storing ceramic bird baths and pots and taking in fragile plants that I can save. I sure wish today was Friday... HAGD, Maryann

February 21, 2011 - "Restoration Questionable" This vehicle is on display in front of some Key West stores. I did some research and believe that nameplate on the hood is part of the original vehicle. Your response to my Key West sunset image was greatly appreciated.
5-18: Sorry for no comments today - Melanie (my wife) had me doing chores almost all day long :( I'll try to catch up soon. We were driving by a farm near Lions Park natural area north of Fort Collins and this section of fence caught my eye. I think those little glowing round things are dandelion seed puff things.
January 7, 2012 This shot was taken just after sundown somewhere along the Mississippi coast of the Gulf of Mexico. We had stopped to walk on the beautiful white-sand beaches and take some photos. Just as we left, we stopped at a nearby marina to put gas in the car and I couldn't resist taking this photo. Frame added in Picnik. I hope you enjoy this tranquil setting captured in this photo - it's going to be one of my favorites from our recent vacation. Check it out in X3 for all the color, reflections and details. Thanks for your comments!!! Have a fabulous weekend!!! Linda
