2/26/15 - I have been processing some old files and found this shot of a coyote at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Thanks for your comments on the image of the transcandentia. Much appreciated! I sent smugmug a note telling them that virtually no one's photos were showing up today in the dailies and asking for their help. When I came back from the doctor's several hours later, my photo had shown up, as well as Nelli's and fotomom's. The other's that have shown up are all from yesterday.
Thursday, February 26, 2015 "ALL SNOW AND NO PLAY" "The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?" ~ J. B. Priestley A drive-by - photographed from the passenger side of the vehicle........ NOTE: SmugMug is still having "issues" with photos appearing in the Daily Photos Community. This one, along with several other photos from SmugMuggers, are not appearing in the community today. The photos that are appearing are mostly the ones that were posted yesterday, including mine. Yesterday, from 12:15 PM to approximately 5:00 PM, our city got 4-5 inches of snow.......nonstop. Snow is a big deal for us, especially considering that during the winter months, we don't always get snow. We rode around yesterday evening so that we could see the snow scenes and I could take advantage of the photo ops. Since I am not accustomed to photographing snow, I had to play around with different settings; however, I was really inspired by the beautiful wintery/snow photos that have been previously posted by fellow SmugMuggers Janet McQueen, Nelli, and Trusalda (aka TruImages). Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! (photo taken 2/25/2015)
26/02/15 post It was almost balmy this afternoon in the minus 10 degree sunlight,,,,,,LOL,,,,,but I had to wear gloves while I took this shot. Oh well,,,the sun was shining and it wasn't SNOWING! The neighborhood was waking up. A nice man was shoveling but offered himself as a model. Two gorgeous doggies wagged their tails as I passed by their yard ,and the snow was melting. YAY!! This house is one street over and looked dazzling in the sunshine!
Portrait of a girl, Zhaoxing Dong village, Guizhou Province, China This girl was pretty serious, but soon after I took this photo she was joined by an equally serious young friend and it didn't take long before they were both hamming it up for the camera. Please see here for this girl and her young friend living it up with their gap-toothed smiles, and a charming pic of a young girl in pink: http://goo.gl/LPDpjH May not have much internet access for several days.....will post/comment if possible. Maybe by then SM will have sorted out their problems getting photos onto the Popular Today page! 26/02/15 www.allenfotowild.com

I'm dreaming of the time, weeks away I am afraid, when there will once again be open water on the river for the swans, both the ones who nest here and the ones just passing through. DP056-2015 Posted Wednesday, February 25; processed ditto Unlike my previous posts that were heavily processed, to say the least, this one received minimal treatment after passing through Lightroom. I realize the 'crop', which cropped off the top of the swan's head, won't be to everyone's taste. It is the way it was captured, i.e. nothing left on 'the cutting room floor'. The lens was at about maximum zoom, and the swan was moving around. I'm guessing I had to choose to take it as is, or lose the lovely light and shadows altogether. Huron River at Gallup Park, Ann Arbor, December 29, 2014 Title: The swans are long gone from our frozen rivers, lakes, and ponds
Strawberry Splash - a still life that is a work in progress and a learning experience. I hope to improve the light and the composition. Update: thank you for the comments. The splash is darker than i intended so i will work on the light power and placement so the background stays dark but the splash stands out more. I really appreciate the comments!

Kazakh woman wearing traditional attire. Taken in Khovd (Hovd), Western Mongolia at the town theater with its interesting decorated doors. Khovd is at the foot of the Altai mountains near the northern border with China. Photographing people in remote areas is one of the joys of travel. Today I have posted a number of people pics here: http://goo.gl/zU4mgP 25/02/15 www.allenfotowild.com
