11/23/14 - Light and shadow at the Denver Botanic Gardens; this is my hubby, my granddaughter and one of my daughers. This is a fairly tight crop from a much wider image. I think it still looks good in the largest size although it is only a fraction of the original. Thanks for your comments on my shot of the amaranth. I'm always attracted to them when I see them in gardens, although when I grew them myself in NJ their seeds reproduced in such prodigious numbers that they were quite invasive. My eye is doing pretty well, although I'm not seeing as well from the second eye as I did from the first. It is more swollen. Hopefully, it will improve as the swelling goes down. The doctor does not want me to read, use the computer or watch a lot of movies. About the only thing he seems to think is ok to do is housework. I think he's just being extra cautious because I'm at a high risk for a retinal detachment because of my extreme myopia.

Sunday, November 23, 2014 "AT THE CROSS, AT THE CROSS.....WHERE I FIRST SAW THE LIGHT" “The cross is God's way of taking away all of our accusations, excuses, and arguments. The cross is God taking on flesh and blood and saying, "Me too." (abbreviated) ~ Rob Bell The caption was inspired by lyrics from the old Gospel Hymn, "Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed." The crosses were wall art in "The Rosewell" home - one of five homes that we toured during the VESTA Home Show last month. Frames added with PicMonkey. Mississippi State University Bulldogs slaughtered Vanderbilt Commodores yesterday (51-0); on the other hand, Ole Miss Rebels Black Bears was slaughtered by Arkansas Razorbacks (30-0)! My "VESTA Home Show" 2014 gallery is here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/Parade-of-Homes-2/VESTA-HOME-SHOW-2014/ Have a blessed day! Day 321- Female Mallard on Ice - Nov 22. This little female mallard, along with her flock companions, seemed to be having a rough time getting accustomed to the newly formed sheet of ice covering the pond. THey were cautiously stepping and skittering and sliding to get around and every now and then a patch in the thin ice would break and one of the ducks would be half in and half out of the water.
22.11.14 - The Last Bright Light It had been a strange day of passing showers that all managed to avoid us, with alternating bright spells and periods of flat grey. I had a fantastic countryside run in the morning, surrounded by beautiful shafts of light piercing the dark skies, if only I could have photographed those. Then I had to make a trip to the supermarket late in the afternoon, and on the way home saw the possibility of some sunset colour in the south-west. To see it properly I had to detour to the river footpath that is always very muddy at this time of year. My footwear wasn't appropriate, but I didnt care because the sunset didn't disappoint. This was right at the end, the last flash of colour reflected in the still water of the river.
Battling zebras, Ngala, South Africa This was a serious fight that involved biting, kicking and drawing blood.
