8/28/14 - Prickly poppies Thanks for your comments on my shot of the Mustang logo. I have quite a few shots of Mustang logos and each is a bit different. I think it was an inspired idea of Ford's to create this logo.

When that pink hits your eye Like a bubble gum pie - That's hibiscus! When the blooms seems to shine 'cause the weather is fine - That's hibiscus. DP239-2014 Posted August 27; processed ditto. I lost internet service during a period of severe thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, before I had left any comments for the day, and only got it back this morning. So apologies for not responding to all the lovely comments left yesterday for my own shot. You have to be pretty old to recognize my lame parody of the tune from the 1950's, 'That's Amore', made popular by Dean Martin (originial lyrics here, for example: http://www.metrolyrics.com/thats-amore-lyrics-dean-martin.html) Lots of hibiscus are in bloom around town - almost like a second season of blooms, but none were any larger than these, which were the size of salad plates, fully 8-9 inches across. Thursday, August 28, 2014 "A QUIET MAN vs A QUIET WOMAN" “Few people make sound or sustainable decisions in an atmosphere of chaos. The more serious the situation, usually accompanied by a deadline, the more likely everyone will get excited and bounce around like water on a hot skillet. At those times, I try to establish a calm zone but retain a sense of urgency. Calmness protects order, ensures that we consider all the possibilities, restores order when it breaks down, and keeps people from shouting over each other. You are in a storm. The captain must steady the ship, watch all the gauges, listen to all the department heads, and steer through it. If the leader loses his head, confidence in him will be lost and the glue that holds the team together will start to give way. So assess the situation, move fast, be decisive, but remain calm and never let them see you sweat.” ~ General Colin Luther Powell, excerpt from "It Worked for Me: In Life and Leadership" And might I add that although the Bible declares that........"in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength." ~ Isaiah 30:15 (The Bible, KJV), sadly, the Israelites chose to trust in men instead of God. Remember, "He who angers you, conquers you.” ~ Elizabeth Kenny Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! (photo taken 7/15/2014) My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com
Mother Nature's fantasia Hoodoos with white cap stones, Inspiration Point, Bryce Canyon, Utah. The white rock (cap stone) is harder than the underlying red sandstone, so it protects the underlying rock from erosion. Another close-up of the hoodoos, and the remainder of the White Pocket images, can be seen here: http://goo.gl/yWR7T6 28/08/14 www.allenfotowild.com

Getting dark when I took this but Queen Ann's Lace is still beautiful!!!!!!! Post for 28/08/2014
27.08.14 - Sleep I did some more experimenting with matching stills from the film with quotes from Robert Crowder's letters from the Front to produce publicity postcards for Tell Them of Us yesterday. I've been struggling with a bad back since the weekend and have had to cancel some work this week. It is also difficult sitting at the computer for any length of time, but I have to be fit enough for tomorrow and Saturday as both are big filming days. As the filming draws to a close we are moving onto publicity material and planning film showings etc, it is all fascinating and keeps the creative juices flowing :)
21.08.14 - Icons Well I finally got to photograph the last two surviving Lancaster bombers together over Lincoln, and to add to the occasion the last surviving Vulcan led the formation. They were joined by a Hawk trainer on the left here. This is actually a composite, I took the wide shot of the city under that dramatic sky, and then switched to a longer lens to get closer shots of the aircraft. As it happens the formation was quite wide and this is a realistic representation of what we saw. The Canadian Lancaster "Vera" is on the right as you look, and I'm hoping to photograph them together again before she returns across the Atlantic in September.
While cooking dinner on the grill this little guy was hanging around. He gave me time to go get my camera and he posed for this shot plus I did not burn my dinner I guess that's a good day.....
