Rock art by Mother Nature Giant wave formation with snow melt pool, White Pocket, Vermillion Cliffs NM, Arizona It involved a little exploring and climbing to find this great viewpoint, but it was worth the effort. Other photos of the fantastic rock formations and 'bonsai' trees in this area can be seen here: http://goo.gl/xoxbvG 26/07/14 www.allenfotowild.com
050211 Tree in Shohola Falls Long week last week with the shutter failing on my Nikon D50 and computer problems at work. Took a drive to Delaware Water Gap over the weekend to get away. Trying to adjust to my D60 but I liked my older camera.
July 30, 2014 Thanks to everyone for the comments on the "Girls - Just Having Fun" shot yesterday. I am very grateful and appreciative. I had a really crazy day yesterday and little time to do fun stuff myself, so I'm sorry that I wasn't good at commenting on your photos. I'll try to be better in the coming days. This is a single portrait of Granddaughter Ashlee from she & her girlfriend's shoot - trying to look like a modern day Lois Lane. She wouldn't have a clue who Lois Lane was, but this was her "photo journalist" dress. It was a fun day. You all have a fun day too! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
08OCT2012 Milling Around Dell's Mill aka Clark's Mill with some Fall foliage all lit up in the morning sun......Great place, scenic area with lots of barns to shoot as well. Image won First Place in the "Travel Category" n4c.us in October 2012, submitted through the Omaha Camera Club. Comments are welcome, lots of Wisconsin images to upload....have a great day! Dan, sorry we didn't know you lived there....great area.
I was looking for something to photograph during the week of fog, and I found my subject, the Alex Fraser Bridge.
8/1/14 - Cables and Shadows Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on my shot of the sand sculpture of the unusual couple. I got a few chuckles from your remarks.
1964 Chevy Pickup Stepside. It looks like the last time it was drivable was in 1998, notice by the window sticker. In the back of the bed there is a cooler (“Sure where he kept his beer”) a pair of cowboy spurs and old boots. My guess is this was a cowboy’s pickup.
Here is a close-up of the nearer of the two fishermen in yesterday's wide angle shot ( http://smu.gs/UyYWnY ). Several of you made direct or glancing reference to the fact that he seemed to be looking at a mobile phone. Although his boat is certainly rigged for fishing, I never once saw him so much as look at any of the three poles he had mounted on it. DP210-2014 Posted July 29; processed ditto For Regina (rtgeoghanart) who asked, and any others who might be interested, there is a different perspective of yesterday's scene here ( http://smu.gs/Uz3uL8 ). Also, for a closer view of the other fishing boat, barely visible in my July 28 DP post, see here ( http://smu.gs/X8h2yI ). It's a very different approach to fishing. Two Minute Blue Hour, Lake Sam Rayburn TX A view from the new beach we've found at Lake Sam Rayburn. I can't stress enough how cool this beach is. My photos don't really give any sense of what it looks like, just the view. I'll have to take a video the next time we're there. Maybe I'm just really excited because the previous 20 or so lake views we've scouted on two different lakes have mostly been a bust. We're really looking forward to spending the day there sometime in the next few weeks and exploring it further. This is a single two minute exposure taken some 20 minutes after the sun went down. This is one of the last shots of the night and it was getting dark fast. I'm always surprised how much light I can continue to capture long after the sun goes down. I used a 3-stop hard-step graduated neutral density filter to block three stops of light above the horizon. I've always admired the abstract feeling of really long exposures on the water, and it has been a goal of mine to make some really long exposures of my own. I've still got a lot to learn. I'm also trying to break my habit of using 17mm and f/22, but habits are hard to break. QUESTION: I'm interested to hear your thoughts about the color temperature of this photo. What color temperature do you think I used for this photo? What's your best guess? What is the appropriate color temperature for this situation 20 minutes after sundown? Critiques always welcome! Daily photo: August 29, 2012, taken August 26, 2012
Rainbow Slot Canyon This colorful slot canyon has bright yellow, orange, pink and red stripes. It's also very slanted.
