January 14. This is a 100 year old summerhouse in the dunes just 100 m. from the beach. I shot it just before sunset in order to get the glow in the windows and the dark BG. The foreground was darkened in order to draw all attention to this well-preserved house .

July 23, 2011 I'm so glad to be home from this week's trip, it was a long week in Birmingham. This is a shot of some grass or weeds that I thought were kind of cool the way the wind was blowing them. I enhanced with Topaz Spicify filter. I'm going to work hard to get caught up with comments this weekend. Thanks for all your kind comments! Linda
April 7, 2012 WOW - thank you all for your kind comments on my speeding train shot yesterday. I was blown away! And it was a much needed lift to a day that was so painful. Once again, I traveled back to Oklahoma, and to the place where I spent my childhood to attend the funeral of my beloved cousin Billy Max. It was a painful day, but I knew that he was finally out of pain and reunited with some of our family. Thank you for your kind comments and prayers for our family in our time of sadness. This shot was taken near where he was laid to rest and posted some weeks before his death. Here is the commentary I wrote then about this shot............. This photo reminds me of the song by Journey called "Midnight Train" - but it was just an early evening train that's coming toward you. As mentioned in yesterday's post of the "speeding train shot" it was getting dark while I was taking photos of the tracks and the approaching train. I thought this was a pretty cool shot because you can see the light from the train's engine clearly on the rails for quite a good distance ahead of the engine. Have a "bright light" sort of day my friends! Linda

October 17, 2013 As I've said before, I love Aspen trees. I would have loved to have been in Colorado at the time of their leaves turning that brilliant, golden yellow color. Nevertheless, I enjoyed them in their late summer stage too. I loved that this stand was so thick & I could see deep into their world and find their unique markings far from the front set of trees. This thick stand of Aspens brought to mind many of Bev Doolittle's prints. I am a big fan of Bev Doolittle. This shot reminded me most of her "Sacred Ground" print. Also, the triptych "Two More Indian Horses" (which hangs in my living room). I would highly recommend that you google her Sacred Ground Print, and I think you'll see why this shot put me in mind of that piece of art. Have a strong and steady day! Linda
March 11... Beach #9. This is the last Beach-picture for now. I still need to include some summer-pictures in the series, so I have to wait 3 month to finish this job . If you look at the horizon line you will see a number of windmills. We have a lot of offshore windmill parks around our country and they produce 20 % of our total power consumption and this percentage is increasing from year to year
February 25... Beach #7. Hope you are not getting tired of pictures from my beach. If not I have a few more to come. I am proud that a TV station has shown 2 of the previous beach-pictures at prime time.
August 23, 2011 hi everyone! Thanks for all of the great comments. We are loving the weather and low daily highs of around 80 degrees in New Mexico. The vacation is going great. Many times we are in areas with no cell coverage - which is ok, except that I also don't have the use of my iPad to comment with. So forgive me for the sparse comments. This is a shot of the floor of the Texas State capital building in Austin, Texas. It was taken a couple of months ago but I really liked how it was a little off kilter. Check it out in X2 - I think you'll enjoy the details.
February 16, 2012, The show is over................... This SOOC photo was taken right after the 2012 Sarfari Club Internation (SCI) show had closed to the public and the frantic work of tearing down the exhibits had begun. We had to wait for the union folks to bring our empty boxes back so we could start packing, so I slipped out and took some photos...........finally. And yes, the carpet was really that red. :-)) I thought this shot of the two empty beer bottles next to one of the benchs in the main isle really said, "The show is over" and thus couldn't resist taking a shot for you all to see. Enjoy your day my friends!!! Linda
June 19... This week we have the 27th annual Kite Festival on our island. Our beach is so popular for the kite-people because we have the broad beach and a steady wind from the North Sea. About 8000 people have come from all over the world, some even come from New Zeeland, but Germans are the majority. They send up about 15.000 kites. Quite an impressive view
