Aug 21, 2011..... I was attracted to the reflecton I saw here with just foreground leaves in focus. Artesa Winery. Carneros Appellation, near Napa Valley. I go there as often as I'm able. I'll be there this week. This photo was taken at the foot of Artesa Winery looking across their pond used to irrigate the vineyards. Atesa Winery is set high into a hilltop mostly covered with sod with panoramic views of Napa Valley, San Francisco Bay. "Perhaps no other winery captures the multi-faceted beauty of this windswept, world-famous appellation as dramatically as the Artesa estate, where the fusion of architecture, artistry and winegrowing reaches soaring heights." http://www.artesawinery.com/index1.html Thank you for your many thoughtful and flattering comments. I am humble by your amazing talent!
The morning flyout of snow geese at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in NM. This is actually a tiny proportion of the snow geese that were part of the main flyout. When that happens, the sky is pretty much covered totally with birds. There are some shots of that in my "Birds" gallery. They're not as interesting as photos, but they are pretty interesting in terms of understanding the flyout event. I was amazed by your response to my shot of the cookware with the reflections. Some of you wondered where I was, since I didn't show up much in the reflections. I was off a bit to the side. Unfortunately, that nice cookware is not mine. I took the shot at Williams Sonoma. Hope your week started well and that you have a great day!

Day 37 - Love Thank you for all the great comments. I was quite nervous taking this set of flower photos for a wedding catalog because the flowers were to be used for a wedding the next morning. The client was rushing me in worries that the flowers being out of the refrigerator too long and its losing freshness. It was my first job shooting flowers commercially and that was quite an experience, to say the least.

5th year Pic 156 - 15-Apr-2014. Lavani dance - Republic day parade, Mumbai Lavani is a combination of traditional song and dance performed to the beats of Dholki, a percussion instrument. Lavani is noted for its powerful rhythm and has contributed substantially to the development of Marathi folk theatre. The songs are sung in a quick tempo and mainly performed by ladies wearing nine-yard long saris, there are also men that dance in support with the lead dancer. ADDED: Rick, I've kept the bottom part as it contains the shadows of the two dancers which I feel adds a nice element. Terry, I tried complete B&W but looked drab with more emphasis on the shadows, taking away the attention from colourful costumes. More Lavani info Critiques welcome! It was interesting to note the varied observations on the composition and an honour to see my pic at #4 place! Thank you all!

Cow Wreck Beach April 2013 on northern Anegada is empty, lovely, beautiful and waiting for just one person to take the whole thing. This soft sand was some of the finest I've ever walked on and the water is a hypnotic blue.

Las Vegas Sunrise September 18, 2011 While shooting early morning reflections of the Wynn Hotel and Casino, I turned around for this moment in time photo of the Monorail on its early morning run. The Las Vegas Monorail is a 3.9-mile (6.3 km) mass transit system located in the Las Vegas, NV near the strip. It connects the MGM Grand to the Hilton Hotel. I loved the play of light on the pines in front of the train. I focused on them. I shot to the right of the sun. I must have taken 10 or more photos of the slow moving monorail. I was 3 stories up on the Wynn employee walkway near their garage. I darkened the exposure and increased the color saturation and light intensity. This made the blues and reds pop out on the monorail. We arrived just before daylight observing employee shift change.
