Tuesday, July 17, 2012 "AFFECTION" "Horse sense is the thing a horse has which keeps it from betting on people." ~ W.C. Fields Update: After reading Wilma's comment, I changed the caption from "Bonding" to "Affection." Thanks for the inspiration, Wilma! I am told that horses are extrememly affectionate and that when a horse gently brings its head even slightly in your direction, it is a sign of affection and acknowledgement.........such was the case here. You all know that I rarerly post "people shots," but I was walking by and spotted this scene and thought, "photo opp and future daily post." I was hoping she wouldn't leave before I was able to get my camera out of its bag and capture the moment. Thanks for your comments and have a terrific Tuesday. 08OCT2012 Milling Around Dell's Mill aka Clark's Mill with some Fall foliage all lit up in the morning sun......Great place, scenic area with lots of barns to shoot as well. Image won First Place in the "Travel Category" n4c.us in October 2012, submitted through the Omaha Camera Club. Comments are welcome, lots of Wisconsin images to upload....have a great day! Dan, sorry we didn't know you lived there....great area.
Sunday, July 21, 2013 "B" is for BATHTUBS "Every tub has to sit on its own bottom." ~ Title of a book written by Zora Neal Hurston Photo submission for Donna McCommon's "Alphabet Challenge" For some reason, when I saw this scene, I was reminded of the scene in "The Help" movie where the commodes (toilets), as opposed to bathtubs, were in the front yard of Hilly Hollbrook's house:). Have a wonderfully blessed day, my friends! Wednesday, October 2, 2013 "FOUNTAINS OF BELLAGIO" "The knowledge of man is as the waters, some descending from above, and some springing from beneath; the one informed by the light of nature, the other inspired by divine revelation." ~ Francis Bacon SOOC, uncropped, 35mm lens There's always one......Dycasstudios requested to see the camera settings. You can view them here under "Comments (see Godschild): http://dycasstudios.smugmug.com/DailyGallery-1/2013-Daily/27377083_2KC9tv#!i=2805356469&k=7S5q8Rs In July, we spent a week in Arizona at "my happy place." While there, we decided to digress and drive to Las Vegas. Although I was first and last in Las Vegas in June (2006) with my best friend, it was my hubby's first trip to Vegas. Upon our arrival, we parked in the Bellagio's parking garage and headed straight for the water show that was just about to start. This is one of the first photos that I took. A refreshing addition to entertainment options, the Fountains of Bellagio were destined to romance the senses during the day and night. We viewed this thoughtfully interwoven complimentary Las Vegas show of water, music, and light. Each dynamic performance is unique in its expression and interpretation. It is truly the most amusing, amazing, ambitious, choreographically complex water feature ever conceived against the beautiful backdrop of Las Vegas's sky. I fell in love all over again with the stunning nature of this aquatic accomplishment while listening to a clever concert of opera, classical, and Broadway tunes. Sunday, December 30, 2012 "LIGHTS AND REFLECTIONS" "How much you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And so it is with life, which, for many of us becomes one big gigantic test followed by one big gigantic lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word.....grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, the darkness and the light." ~ Philosophy SOOC, other than the frames, which were created with Picnik.......unfortunately, the picnik is over. As announced earlier, Picnik closed on April 19, 2012. I've taken a lot of photos of ivy this year as it has changed colors in the fall. It was the weird growth pattern of this particular patch which caught my eye, as much as the colors. DP303-2014 Posted October 30; processed October 28 Ruthven Museum of Natural History, University of Michigan Taken October 25, 2014 Title: Even Ivy Can Change Its Mind Thanks for all the kind words about yesterday's 'Perception' post, and the comments to several of my earlier posts. All are very much appreciated.
Happy Hallowe'en Posted Oct. 31, 2014 Just back from a great trip to the eastern US. They seem to do a lot of decorating for this occasion there.
Crab Spider on Goldenaster (Chrysopsis sp.). Morningside Nature Center, Gainesville, Florida. 2014.
10.31.14 B&W #5 Not feeling good this morning. Back to bed.
The Journey begins... Please accept my apologies if I do not get to your shot right aways. Please let me explain. Taking care of my mom is virtually like taking care of a toddler. She can only take a few steps and she has to have diapers. I giver her meds to her, I get her up and in the wheelchair to take her to the dinning room to eat. She can feed herself so that's good. Basically when she needs something I have to get it. So if I don't comment right away I haven't forgotten you I'm just in the middle of something. Have a GRATEFUL day. and smile... *

30JAN2012 I have been a little under the weather lately, this is a shot I got from the Indianola balloon festival in Indianola Iowa, it was one of the first images I shot with my first digital camera. I had purchased a five hundred roll pack of film a year prior to this shot and had just run out of film. Paul jr. found the camera in St louis and went and got it for us and off to the races we went.....The camera doesn't fell good in my hand yet but heck I shot almost five thousand frames with that old film camera......hope I get more like this, hope you enjoy it! I don't have photoshop....background is real, looking toward the North, real hazy out, sun is in and out of the clouds right at sunset, thanks for asking! I was not in a balloon, they are the last ones up and out...real distinctive crafts, almost like the ones used to go around the world, haven't seen many of this type before this event. You don't see many with animals on the sides either... #1 picture 30JAN2012
