Day 299: Halloween - Oct 31. Happy Halloween everyone - have a great time. Came across this display in a nearby town.
The Journey begins... Please accept my apologies if I do not get to your shot right aways. Please let me explain. Taking care of my mom is virtually like taking care of a toddler. She can only take a few steps and she has to have diapers. I giver her meds to her, I get her up and in the wheelchair to take her to the dinning room to eat. She can feed herself so that's good. Basically when she needs something I have to get it. So if I don't comment right away I haven't forgotten you I'm just in the middle of something. Have a GRATEFUL day. and smile... *

2-02: This is another from Saturday's sunset. Several people have asked if the colors are real (natural) in yesterday's. It was taken as three bracketed exposures but only at -1, 0 and 1. Then combined in Photomatix. Then final processing in Capture NX2 (mostly brightness and focus adjustments) I didn't change any colors. I did actually have to desaturate a little because the orange and reds tend to be over saturated sometimes. I used the same processing on today's post. This one was actually taken a few minutes before the one I posted yesterday, so the clouds are more orange than red or pink
Wednesday, October 2, 2013 "FOUNTAINS OF BELLAGIO" "The knowledge of man is as the waters, some descending from above, and some springing from beneath; the one informed by the light of nature, the other inspired by divine revelation." ~ Francis Bacon SOOC, uncropped, 35mm lens There's always one......Dycasstudios apparently doesn't believe this is a SOOC image, so she's requested to see the camera settings. You can view them here under "Comments (see Godschild): http://dycasstudios.smugmug.com/DailyGallery-1/2013-Daily/27377083_2KC9tv#!i=2805356469&k=7S5q8Rs In July, we spent a week in Arizona at "my happy place." While there, we decided to digress and drive to Las Vegas. Although I was first and last in Las Vegas in June (2006) with my best friend, it was my hubby's first trip to Vegas. Upon our arrival, we parked in the Bellagio's parking garage and headed straight for the water show that was just about to start. This is one of the first photos that I took. A refreshing addition to entertainment options, the Fountains of Bellagio were destined to romance the senses during the day and night. We viewed this thoughtfully interwoven complimentary Las Vegas show of water, music, and light. Each dynamic performance is unique in its expression and interpretation. It is truly the most amusing, amazing, ambitious, choreographically complex water feature ever conceived against the beautiful backdrop of Las Vegas's sky. I fell in love all over again with the stunning nature of this aquatic accomplishment while listening to a clever concert of opera, classical, and Broadway tunes. 11/23/10 - Tree in the Fog I have been watching and studying this tree for a couple of years now. Whenever there is fog, it seems to stand out from the backdrop...a solitary, lonely figure. I finally made up my mind yesterday to figure out where to park the car to get out to take a picture...not a small feat. I do try to stay safe, but this location is more precarious than some. Most days I am joyful as I spend time with the kids. My life is full of laughter and color; it's vibrant and full of life like many of my pictures. But some days at least deep inside it is like this too. I guess a bit of that side is slipping through today. I stopped to think about my mother for a few minutes when I took this. She was involved in a horrible traffic accident with a tractor trailer on a foggy morning in November just before Thanksgiving in 1985. For me, the fog will always be more than just the fog. Back to bright and cheery tomorrow I promise... Thanks for your comments on Johnny and the Jon boat. It was as serene out there as you thought. Little wind, warm sun on our skin, very few boats out on the lake...a calming hour without the chaos of life. HAGD, Maryann
Tuesday, July 17, 2012 "AFFECTION" "Horse sense is the thing a horse has which keeps it from betting on people." ~ W.C. Fields Update: After reading Wilma's comment, I changed the caption from "Bonding" to "Affection." Thanks for the inspiration, Wilma! I am told that horses are extrememly affectionate and that when a horse gently brings its head even slightly in your direction, it is a sign of affection and acknowledgement.........such was the case here. You all know that I rarerly post "people shots," but I was walking by and spotted this scene and thought, "photo opp and future daily post." I was hoping she wouldn't leave before I was able to get my camera out of its bag and capture the moment. Thanks for your comments and have a terrific Tuesday. 30JAN2012 I have been a little under the weather lately, this is a shot I got from the Indianola balloon festival in Indianola Iowa, it was one of the first images I shot with my first digital camera. I had purchased a five hundred roll pack of film a year prior to this shot and had just run out of film. Paul jr. found the camera in St louis and went and got it for us and off to the races we went.....The camera doesn't fell good in my hand yet but heck I shot almost five thousand frames with that old film camera......hope I get more like this, hope you enjoy it! I don't have photoshop....background is real, looking toward the North, real hazy out, sun is in and out of the clouds right at sunset, thanks for asking! I was not in a balloon, they are the last ones up and out...real distinctive crafts, almost like the ones used to go around the world, haven't seen many of this type before this event. You don't see many with animals on the sides either... #1 picture 30JAN2012
Sunday, July 21, 2013 "B" is for BATHTUBS "Every tub has to sit on its own bottom." ~ Title of a book written by Zora Neal Hurston Photo submission for Donna McCommon's "Alphabet Challenge" For some reason, when I saw this scene, I was reminded of the scene in "The Help" movie where the commodes (toilets), as opposed to bathtubs, were in the front yard of Hilly Hollbrook's house:). Have a wonderfully blessed day, my friends!
