Thanks for all your comments yesterday about the cracked glass. Stacking is something new to me, that LordV here on Smugmug and Flickr has done tutorials on. His macros are fantastic and has turned the little things in life into wonderful artwork.

DailyPhotos > popular today > #59. Sunset at Tingley Beach.

I needed to post something less death related.

I am exhausted and going to bed early. My brain is already pumpkin mush, so... I really can't formulate any comments. I just want to sleep.

ETA: (Tuesday Morning) In the original picture the children were silhouetted and the sky was blue washing down to a paler blue. I clicked on auto color adjustment and it added a little bit of pink. I added contrast to make it darker and I got more pink.... and then I added a little saturation and got more pink.

DailyPhotos > popular today > Bubbles or Bokeh? (Day 143) November 10, 2009

Thanks for the comments on my recent photos. Been very lucky to have a few good subjects to shoot. My wife is a great muse for sure!

So I'm back in the work mode and find myself thinking about a SOTD. I'm actually at home this week so that is a bonus, but never got out to grab a shot. Then it hits me...let's play around with the 50mm lens and that new LED flashlight thing I just picked up from Lowes.

These are two glass candle holders with bubbles embedded in them. I set the lights on top facing downward through the glass and take a couple of shots. Ok, kind of cool, but needs something more. I push one of the glass holders back a bit and keep a shallow DOF. The one that is out of focus is starting to look interesting. Move the other one to the same out of focus distance as the first while keeping the same focal length set on the lens. Switch to manual to get a slightly longer exposure and here you go. I dunno...I like it though!

*Only a very slight crop on this one.

DailyPhotos > popular today > November 11, 2009 My new camera
I sure got tired of lugging this thing around Disneyworld :-)
It shoots 50 megapixel images. The digital card is the size of a book but it holds 79,000 images.
