Frames On Broadway - January 2013 : Exhibit from January 19 - March 15, 2013 at Frames on Broadway in Seaside, CA. This is a two artist show (Oliver Klink, Carl Couchman). Artist Statement: Life by Oliver Klink As a nature photographer, I like to dazzle my audience with the wonders of the natural diversity of our world. In an effort to preserve some of the beauty of our rapidly changing planet, I have embarked on photographing animals in the wild. The intent of my photography is to capture the animal’s behavior in its own habitat and share this privileged experience through my photographs. The “Life” project is taking a slight slant to my traditional wildlife work. I want to represent what I saw over time when photographing the wildlife and their habitat. It means using multiple cameras, taking exposures from various angles, and compositing images in post processing. The intent is to depict the feel of being there and embracing what their life is about. To give a sense of the grandeur of their “life”, I photograph with a medium format camera. It enables me to print the images “almost” life size and invite the viewer to observe closely the intricacy of their daily routines. Even with a trained eye, every time I look at the images I discover new interaction, new feel, new creatures that truly make “life” a complex ecosystem. The “life” project has taking me to places like Africa, Antarctica, Canada, Switzerland, Alaska, Montana among other places. This is an ongoing project, where I invite you to join me on a typical day in their “life”. Images for sale in various sizes.
