Aotearoa I - New Zealand : Aotearoa 1 - New Zealand My country is Aotearoa - Land of the Long White Cloud - more recently known as New Zealand. These paintings of Whai Repo (the North Island), a big part of Aotearoa - a beautiful place on earth in which to Be. See Gallery: Aotearoa II (South Island) also. Whai Repo is the 'Stingray', not someone asking you to go out and repossess a vehicle. If you look at Kiwiland from high up in the atmosphere you will see the Stingray - Northland is the Tail, the area around Wellington Harbour the Head, and Taranaki and East Cape the Fins. The Maori knew its shape long before satellites, otherwise they wouldn't have called it the Stingray. [This gallery needs a lot of work, sorting and that sort of thing. Pesca Arte Xávega : Forma tradicional de pesca, em que um grupo de pescadores num barco a remos lança as redes, para cercar os cardumes, puxando aquelas mais tarde para a praia, com a ajuda de bois. Ao longo da praia da Vagueira, concelho de Vagos, os pescadores desta arte continuam a enfrentar a rebentação em barcos de madeira como antigamente, tornado-se no principal atractivo turístico desta zona. The main attraction of the region are wonderful beaches such as the Praia da Vagueira, where a traditional method of fishing known as «Xávega art» and typical fishing boats with high prows painted with bright colours may still be observed.
