Walled Lake Drowning : NOVI, Michigan, July 7, 2008, 9:00pm – At approximately 8:15pm, the Oakland County Sheriff's Dive Team & Marine Division recovered the body of a 38-year-old, Novi male who was reported missing in Walled Lake earlier today. The body was found in the same general area as originally reported by witness accounts.

Earlier this afternoon, the Novi Fire Department was dispatched to the shores of Walled Lake on a water rescue call. A witness on the shore of West Lake Drive was able to safely rescue a 38-year-old female and her 17-month-old male child, both from Novi, from the water. The female and infant are being treated at Huron Valley Hospital and are expected to recover.

Fire Department personnel confirmed through witness accounts one person remained in the water. Firefighters utilized their marine boat to enter the water immediately from South Lake Drive.
Divers from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Marine Division entered the water and air support was provided from the Oakland County Sheriff's Aviation Unit in search of the male victim.

The victim and rescued individuals were in a 17’ boat which was launched in the area of the 1100-1200 block of West Lake Drive. The location where this incident occurred is roughly 400-500 yards off the northern portion of the lake. None of the individuals involved in the incident were wearing a life jacket.
