Working Fire VA Beach, 3401 Monticello Drive : June 28, 2008 (Virginia Beach, VA) at approx 2200 hrs multiple calls came into the Virginia Beach 911 Center reporting a garage on fire at 3401 Monticello Drive. Upon arrival of VBFD E-10 they reported heavy fire in the garage of a 2 story single family dwelling with extension to the room above and the attic. A search of the structure came back negative as all residents were out of the house prior to fire department arrival. E-10's crew made an aggressive interior attack to combat the flames preventing any further damage to the main structure of the house. B-3 arrived on scene and took command from E-10a and ordered 3 lines to the structure to combat the fire. A supply line was established by E-9 at a nearby hydrant. Once the main body of fire was knocked down crews went to work on the interior conducting an extensive overhaul to get the many hot spots that remained. The fire was brought under control in about an hour. Due to the high heat and humidity, many crews were rotated through the rehab unit to replace fluids and have their vitals taken. There were no reported injuries to fire fighters or residents. The fire is under investigation by the Virginia Beach Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshal.
