4-Alarm Commercial Building Fire-Cimarron Hills FD : Cimarron Hills-Colorado-El Paso County-USA
Four Alarm Commercial Building Fire-Valken Sports
6160 Lake Shore Court
Date of Incident: August 7, 2014

Around 2:30 PM, Cimarron Hills Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at a business with explosions, with one party still inside. Squad 1371 was nearing the scene and reported a large amount of smoke, and called for a working structure fire response. CHFD Squad 1371 was first on scene and reported fire coming from the B side of a commercial structure. 1371 advised the incoming Ladder Truck 1331 to take the fire hydrant in front of the building. A 2nd alarm was struck as first fire attack crews were getting in place. Fire crews remained in a defensive fire attack mode most of the time due to the frequent explosions going on from the inventory inside the structure. Three fire hydrants were utilized on scene to supply multiple large diameter hoses for fire attack around the perimeter of the structure. Lake Shore Court was closed for some time because of supply lines going down the roadway. Crews removed both roll-up doors in the back of the structure and firefighters used saws to cut openings in the rear wall so more water could get to pockets of fire inside the building. The incident went to four alarms. Some firefighters became overheated during the incident, but no injuries were reported. The blaze caused heavy fire damage to the warehouse portion of the building and its contents. Three fire investigators were working on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.

South Shore Fire & Rescue - PI Extrication Accident W/FFL - Highway 20 west of Highway V - August 6th, 2014 : Rush Hour Crash Severely Injures One

BY HEATHER ASIYANBI AUGUST 6, 2014 - Racine County Eye.

Mount Pleasant police say a 59-year-old man suffered severe injuries after his SUV ran into the back of an asphalt utility vehicle Wednesday morning during rush hour.

According to a press release from MPPD Sgt. Eric Relich, police were called around 7:30 a.m. to an accident on Washington Avenue between International Drive and the East Frontage Road.

When officers arrived, they found the driver of the SUV with severe injuries to his lower body as a result of the driver running into the back of an asphalt truck.

Crews from South Shore Fire Department responded the scene and worked to stabilize the man who was conscious, but rescue determined the man needed transport via Flight for Life to a hospital in Milwaukee. His injuries are serious but not considered to be life-threatening.

The SUV was totaled, Relich said, but the utility truck only suffered minor damage and the driver of that truck was not injured.

Officers from Sturtevant and Caledonia assisted with traffic control, and investigators from Wisconsin State Patrol were called in to further evaluate the scene.

The driver of the SUV was cited for in attentive driving.

South Shore Fire Units on scene included Engines 8 & 9, Med 9, Brush 9 and Battalion 8.

South Shore Fire & Rescue - Working Fire - Beck Aluminum 1349 23rd Street- July 27th, 2014 : Fire in Wood Trailer at Beck Aluminum

BY HEATHER ASIYANBI · JULY 25, 2014 · RACINE COUNTY EYE

A large fire was reported around 8 p.m. Friday at the Beck Aluminum plant near 23rd and Racine streets.

Scanner reports from our friends at Racine Uncovered indicate a 30-foot trailer filled with wooden pallets was the primary location of the fire. An officer from the City of Racine first reported the fire, and crews from South Shore Fire Department responded shortly thereafter, including off-duty personnel.

Roads around the plant – including Highways 11 and 32, 23rd and Racine Streets – remain closed to traffic, and residents are reporting heavy smoke.

A former employee commented on the Racine County Eye Facebook page that Beck runs a 24/7 operation, but workers were not in any danger because the trailer is not located near the primary building.

“It appears the fire is away from the main buildings, so there should be little risk to employees,” Justin Hankins wrote. “If the trailer would have been docked at the main building, then yes, employees could potentially be at risk.”

South Shore Fire Units on scene included Engines 8 & 9, Quint 9, MED 8 and Battalion 8.
