Animal Kingdom® Theme Park / April 11, 2006 : Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park opened to the public on Earth Day, April 22, 1998. The slogan "Nahtazu" is clearly evident from the moment that you enter this unique destination. It's so much more than a traditional zoo. Great care has been taken to transport guests to exotic locales within it's lush confines. You'll encounter wildlife from all the corners of the earth, enjoy exciting shows, experience the thrill rides that you've come to expect as part of your Disney vacation, and leave with a renewed respect for this planet and its inhabitants.

The underlying theme of the Animal Kingdom Park is conservation and preservation. As Walt Disney once said: "I have learned from the animal world, and what everyone will learn who studies it is, a renewed sense of kinship with the earth and all its inhabitants."

Magic Kingdom® Park / April 10, 2006 : It has often been said that the true essence of Disney magic can be experienced simply by stepping foot inside the Magic Kingdom. Opened in 1971, the venerable theme park has withstood more than three decades of changing cultures, a constantly shifting social climate, and an explosion of technology that has left lesser places outdated and obsolete. Yet, somehow, the Magic Kingdom continues to remain the undisputed king of Theme Parks, drawing more yearly visitors than any other.

The Magic Kingdom is divided into five distinct areas (lands), arranged in a spoke-like formation, all meeting at the top of Main Street USA right in front of Cinderella Castle. The five lands consist of Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland. Each land is themed to its appropriate title and maintaining that theme is paramount to the parks operation. A vast network of underground tunnels connect all sections of the Magic Kingdom, thus preventing guests from seeing any of the necessary "behind the scenes" operations, and preventing cast members from one land from having to walk through another.

Chihuly at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden / February 11, 2006 and April 14, 2006 : Chihuly at Fairchild was on exhibit throughout Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden from December 23, 2005, to May 31, 2006.

Dale Chihuly is most frequently lauded for revolutionizing the Studio Glass movement by expanding its original premise of the solitary artist working in a studio environment to encompass the notion of collaborative teams and a division of labor within the creative process. However, Chihuly's contribution extends well beyond the boundaries of both this movement and even the field of glass: his achievements have influenced contemporary art in general.

Dolphin Research Center : Dolphin Research Center, Grassy Key, Marathon, Florida Keys, January 5, 2006. My experience swimming with the dolphins was not photographed but recorded on dvd. Each of our group of six performed five tasks with two dolphins, Molly and Caloosa - pat upper fin, stroke two fins, imitate (twirl), dolphin push (lying on our back while a dolphin pushes us by our feet), and a dolphin ride hanging onto the upper fins of both dolphins. I observed and photographed the dolphins both before and after the swim.

Bahia Honda, 7Mile Bridge, Snorkeling, Key Largo, Florida Keys : Bahia Honda State Park, Seven Mile Bridge, Florida Keys. Some of my fondest memories of childhood are driving over the old Seven Mile bridge to Key West (where my father owned the Sun 'N Surf motel) and stopping at Bahia Honda State Park. This was my first visit in 30 years. All but one of my pictures on my first visit on a sunny day were lost on my memory card, but I did return briefly on the following day, which was unfortunately overcast. Also here, a snorkeling trip on the Spirit catamaran on Little Sombrero reef (water was rough and murky), and a few stops along the upper Keys.
