I had hit one of my better drives of the day into the center of the fairway, and I followed it up with this perfectly placed iron to within about 40 yards of the green. I couldn't have dreamed that both of us would have played this hole as well as we did. I was so excited just to be playing Torrey Pines with my dad, but to see both of us finishing our round this way was awesome.
The short putt for par. Congratulations Dad! You played a great hole, and an excellent round. I'm really proud of you!
Hole #18, a 500 yard par 5. This is one of my favorite holes to play because of all of the memories of exciting finishes to the Buick Invitational. While playing the hole, my dad mentioned Charles Howell's approach shot into this green in 2005. Howell hit a 96 yard shot that hit the pin... then the back of the cup... then rolled backwards into the pond. Had it stayed in the cup for an eagle, he would have tied Tiger Woods and gone to a playoff. Instead, he finished tied for second. Yikes! Back to our round, my dad's drive was about 220 yards right down the center of the fairway. Perfect.

After hitting a great three wood, he was about 77 yards out for his third shot. When watching the final round of the Buick Invitational, this is a very dramatic hole. Anytime you play this hole, its hard not to think about watching Tiger Woods hitting into this green to win the tournament. It's also hard not to think about hitting into the pond in front of the green! Since the tournament is just a few weeks away, they already have the stands set up around the green, which just adds to the excitement even more! So what happened next...
