Big Quilcene - Marmot Pass - Buckhorn Lake : August 14-16, 2009. Trip to Marmot Pass with Jenn, Ria, and Richard. We hiked along the Quilcene River and set upat Camp Mystery just below Marmot Pass. Saturday hiked up the pass and over to Buckhorn Lake. The weather was changeable - misty & cold Friday, sunny Saturday morning and back to mist by afternoon. Sunday was the perfectly clear day as we hiked out. We had the kind of weather that inspires me to take mostly flower pics....unfortunately, I didn't do a very good job of capturing my companions on this trip. Guess we'll have to do it over! Here's my haiku for the trip: Marmot king guard tall/ misty garden: flower, rock/ your domain delights.

Mt. Adams Summit : July 25-26, 2009. Climbed Mt. Adams with Alison and Richard. Wildlife viewed: 1 chipmunk, 1marmot, 1 bull. Lost climbers rescued: 2. Volcano summits attained: 1!

Stilliguamish Peak : July 18, 2009. Now that's a hike! Dave, Bob, Alison, Richard and I hiked up the Perry Creek Trail and spurred off to the left through meadow after meadow, across a basin and scrambled up Stilliguamish peak. We saw just two other souls all day long. And we were the second crew to sign the peak register this year. Beautiful day!

Welch Ridge & Cold Spring Gap Hike, July 2009 : My hiking partner Janice only needed to hike 8.4 miles along two trails–unfortunately, both were in the middle of the Smokies. The result? 23.3 miles of hiking from 6 am to nearly 6:30 pm–some 12 hours–all without the benefit of a lunch break. Enjoy our gallery of photos taken during that hike.
