18th Century Field Day - Red Bank Battlefield - Fort Mercer - 2011 : Red Bank Battlefield is located along the Delaware River in National Park, New Jersey. On October 22, 1777 it was the location of the “Battle of Red Bank” in the American Revolutionary War. Fort Mercer and its sister, Fort Mifflin in Pennsylvania, defended the City of Philadelphia and the Delaware River from British aggression. The forts were successful in delaying the British, but in the end were both destroyed or abandoned. 18th Century Field Day is a community event celebrating the sacrifices of our forefathers. There are displays of colonial life as well as a reenactment of the battle.

State Public School Owatonna, Minnesota : Established in 1886 the Minnesota State Public School for Dependant and Neglected Children was a place over 10,000 children called "home", until 1945 when the facility was phased out. This gallery contains photos of various items the children had at the school; which is now been preserved in the school museum. The children lived in cottages around the main building, each had 25-35 children and a matron. Children learned "habit of industry" as well as being educated "morally and mentally". I really enjoyed my visit to this place and I plan to return again in the spring and summer.
