Munnar : Pictures from a nursery in Munnar, Kundala lake.

Munnar is one of the most popular hill-resort towns in Kerala in southern India. The name Munnar is believed to be derived from the Malayalam/Tamil words Munu (three) and aaru (river), referring to the town's strategic location at the confluence of the Muthirappuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers.

Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district, Munnar was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Unending expanse of tea plantations - pristine valleys and mountains- exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests - aroma of spice scented cool air

Across Zanskar Trek - Wanla to Padum : The Across Zanskar trek used to begin at Lamayuru and end at Padum. The 2nd half of the trek was from Padum to Darcha. The entire trek used to take around 3 weeks. However due to road construction at both ends the trek has been shortened. It now begins at Phanjila and ends at Pidmo instead of Padum reducing three days from the first half of the trek. Due to time constraints I was not able to do the 2nd half from Padum to Darcha. However, the road is relentlessly penetrating Zanskar and quite soon I am sure it will cover the full route and vehicles and motor bikes will be careering down the road all the way to Manali from Lamayuru. When this happens a way of life for the Zanskaris will be lost forever.
