Funny story behind these shots of the orb weaver.  They were taken at a local metro park, hand-held (35mm prime), with a black fleece jacket behind (held by my wife), and no flash.  This lady had made her web between the posts on a deck railing.  I laid on the deck and shot up at the web with my wife hanging over the rail of the deck to keep the jacket behind the spider.  Fun stuff.
Fly on flower. One luxury we often don't get with insect macro photography is the chance to follow the Rule of Thirds. Or as I call it, the Suggestion of Thirds. This photo is one of the rare exceptions.
