New Haven 2nd Alarm 594 George Street : 12/12/12 New Haven, CT - A report of smoke and fire from a house at 594 George Street turned into a stubborn two alarm fire for New Haven firefighters this afternoon. The blaze was reported just before one thirty this afternoon and within walking distance of busy St. Raphael's Hospital. 
First due Engine Nine reported on scene with heavy fire from the first floor number two and four sides, with exposures. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire only to be thwarted a short time later. Heavy fire was found running the walls from the basement to the attic. Prompting the chief to transmit the second alarm on the box. Firemen withdrew from the house for an exterior attack. An additional truck above the second alarm was special called for tower ladder operations.
All searches proved negative and trucks opened up with master streams to knock down the heavy fire venting the roof. The fire took about two hours to bring under control. No one was hurt in the blaze and the cause is under investigation.

New Haven 2nd alarm Box 901 255 Ellsworth St. : 02-22-13 New Haven, CT - A busy night for New Haven firefighters had them battling back to back second alarm fires.  The first was located on Grand Ave and was a verbal to fire headquarters at approximately four in the morning.  Companies had a three story brick, vacant building with heavy fire.
Shortly after five a.m. firefighters were dispatched to 255 Ellsworth Ave for a reported bedroom fire.  First due companies were faced with heavy fire on the first floor of a large occupied multiple dwelling.  The fire quickly extended to the third floor and attic space prompting a second alarm to be transmitted.  Firefighters mounted an aggressive interior attack to keep the fire from spreading throughout the apartment complex.  The fire was brought under control in an hour.  No one was injured, but about forty occupnats were displaced.  The cause of the fire is thought to be a space heater.  Companies would remain on scene throughout the morning at both fires.

New Haven 20 Orange Ave Campbell Auto commerical building : 01/03/13 New Haven, CT - A box alarm was received shortly after 10:30 this morning reporting a fire at Campbell Auto.  The west side battalion chief reported via the radio that he could see it from the training academy and that companies would be going to work.  First in Engine 11 found a 1 story commercial auto body shop heavily involved.  Companies went to work with master streams and proceeded to darken down the heavy fire.  The fire was fueled by four autos as well as numerous chemicals within the building.  The blaze took firefighters about an hour to bring under control.  The cause of the blaze is believed to be a kerosene heater.

Bloomfield, Ct (Blue Hills FD) W/F : Blue Hills FD (Bloomfield, Ct) had this working fire at 68 W. Dudleytown Rd on 1/2/13 @2322 hours. The call came in for a barn fire and on arrival members had this commercial garage with heavy fire showing from the rear of the building. Mutual aid from Bloomfield Center FD and Windsor assisted at the scene.

Bridgeport 2nd Alarm 33 Knowlton Street : 12/24/12 Bridgeport, CT - This fire was called in by police on routine patrol as smoke from the building.  Firefighters responded from headquarters which was across the river from the fire.  Upon their arrival heavy fire had taken control of the one story commercial building.  A second alarm was transmitted by orders of Battalion Chief Morton.  Companies would fight this fire for hours before being brought under control.  They would also remain on scene for two days on a firewatch dousing hot spots.  This fire was the beginning of an epic day for the Bridgeport Fire Department, they would go on to battle six additional fires.

Bridgeport George Street Vacant Dwelling : 12/24/12 Bridgeport, CT - The last in a series of six Christmas eve arson fires, this large three story six family dwelling had heavy fire showing from the rear.  Exhausted crews attempted an interior attack, but were withdrawn due to heavy for conditions on all floors.  A snow storm only served to make matters worse, bringing driving snow and cold temperatures.  This fire took crews about two hours to bring under control.

New Haven 2nd Alarm 73 Fulton St. : 12/16/12 New Haven, CT - The second fire of the night for the city.  This one was located in the east battalion at 73 Fulton St.  First due Engine 5  arrived to find a 3 story, wood frame with the rear porches heavy involved.  An aggressive knockdown with the 2.5" hand line kept the fire from communicating to the interior of the dwelling.  A second alarm was transmitted because of the close proximity of the tow and three side exposures and heavy volume of fire.  The city fmo is investigating the cause of the fire.  No one was hurt in the blaze, but several residents were displaced.

Queens 75-3028 May 6, 2011 : On May 6, 2011, Queens Box 3028 was transmitted for a fire in a private dwelling. A second source came in for a report of a person trapped. Engine 259 and Ladder 128 reported heavy smoke in the distance prior to arrival. 259 arrived first due and transmitted the 10-75 for a confirmed working fire. The person that was reported trapped self-evacuated and did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
