Bahia de Banderas Winter Spring 2013 : So much to see and so much to do, Bryan and I have reconciled to the fact that we can't do it all. Bahia de Banderas has a number of marinas and anchorages, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nuevo Vallarta, Paradise Village, Puerto Vallarta Puenta de Mita, you get the picture. The bay is fantastic for day sails and racing, crewed for Moon Dance, Lanea and Conor on day 2 of the Banderas Bay Regatta. She did very well, won that day as well as days one and two for her division. You rock! Some amazing boats and people. From folks heading south like us, or across the Pacific or up north home or the sea. And Ginger, who was biking, yes peddling with all her gear on her back and bike, up to Oakland. Check out her blog. http://flamingbike.wordpress.com/ Also the folks that live here.

Danza Azteca : We saw this wonderful group perform Danza Azteca at the opening to the XXI Bahia de Banderas Regatta. wanting to find out more about dance, I checked what Wikipedia had to say....

"The Concheros dance, also known as the Chichimecas, Aztecas and Mexicas, is an important traditional dance and ceremony which has been performed in Mexico since early in the colonial period. The dance has strong visual markers of its pre Hispanic roots with feathered costumes (uniforms), indigenous dance steps and indigenous instruments such as drums. However, the name Concheros comes from a type of lute made with an armadillo shell, showing Spanish influence. The dance in its current form was the adaptation of the old “mitote” dance to Catholicism as a means of preserving some aspects of indigenous rite. It remained a purely religious ceremony until the mid 20th century when political and social changes in Mexico also gave it cultural significance as a folk dance. Since the later 20th century, a sub group of the dance called Aztecas or Mexicas has emerged with the aim of eliminating the European influence, often with political aims."

Carnaval 2013 : Bryan had a great idea, let's go to Carnaval! I agree! So we bussed back after sailing to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. It was worth it, the fireworks, parades, music, dancing, seeing good friends and taking several baths a day.

And the busses are great, AC, movies,WC, muy economica, food vendors board along the way selling spiced nuts, tamales, frescas.

Sea of Cortez Summer Fall 2012 : After scoring an AC unit, gratis, we headed to the sea. We were told it would be hot there, but better than Mazatlán and more out of the way of hurricanes. Well, true..... But it was still very hot with thunder storms and wind.
