Marine Military and Civilian Ships : This gallery contains pictures of the First, Second and Third Legends Class Deep Water National Security Cutters. The ships bear the numbers WMSL(Legends Class Maritime Security Cutter,Large) 750,751, 752 and 753 and the names Bertholf after the first Commandant of the United States Coast Guard,Waesche,the First Four Star Admiral of the U.S. Coast Guard and Stratton,named for Coast Guard Captain Dorothy C. Stratton (1899 – 2006). Stratton served as director of the SPARS, the Coast Guard Women's Reserve during World War II and Hamilton after Alexander Hamilton. A First Founding Father of the United States. The ships are 418 ft.long and are the First Three of Six being built at Northrop Grumman Pascagoula Shipbuilding,replacing the 378 foot Hamilton Class Endurance Cutters. The Areliegh-Burke Class Destroyers DDG-103 USS Truxtun DDG-105 USS Dewey,DDG-107 USS Gravely and the DDG-110 USS William P Lawrence. The LHD-8 USS Makin Island. The LPD-19 USS Mesa Verde,LPD-22 USS San Diego, LPD-23 USS Anchorage and the LPD-24 USS Arlington Amphibious Transport Docks and the new LHA-6 USS America under construction,Photo's courtesy of Alan Hinkel Photography.Pascagoula,Mississippi.
