 > Washington November 22,2005.The first Deep Water National Security Cutter is set to be built at Northrup Grumman Shipbuilding  Pascagoula,MS facility.The ship will bare the name Bertholf in honor of the Organizations first Commandant.Ellisworth Price Bertholf 1866-1921,and the number 750.The cutter is 418 feet long and has a top speed of 28 knots.This is the first N.S.C. in a total of 8 cutters slated to be built to replace the aging Hamilton Class Cutters.It truly is a magnificent ship.Photo courtesy of Alan Hinkel Photography
