> Washington November 22,2005.The first Deep Water National Security Cutter is set to be built at Northrup Grumman Shipbuilding Pascagoula,MS facility.The ship will bare the name Bertholf in honor of the Organizations first Commandant.Ellisworth Price Bertholf 1866-1921,and the number 750.The cutter is 418 feet long and has a top speed of 28 knots.This is the first N.S.C. in a total of 8 cutters slated to be built to replace the aging Hamilton Class Cutters.It truly is a magnificent ship.Photo courtesy of Alan Hinkel Photography

> The LPD 19.USS Mesa Verde.The 3rd San Antonio Class amphibious transport dock and the first ship of the United States Navy to be named for Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado.The ship is designed to deliver a fully equipped battalion of up to 800 Marines.The ship is 684 feet long,has a beam of 105 feet,and has a 23 foot draft.The ship is powered by four Colt Pielstick diesel engines, two shafts with 40,000 horsepower,and has a top speed of 22 Knots.

> Honor Gaurd securing the halliard of the United States Flag.The Flag was given to Merchants and Marine Bank by U.S.Senator Trent Lott from Pascagoula,Mississippi ,before he retired, after they rebuilt the Bank after Hurricane Katrina and flew over our Nations Capitol.Lott also lost his ,250 year old, home to Katrina on Beach Boulevard.
