Leslie & the Lys - Seattle (4/1/07) : <b><a href="http://www.lesliehall.com" target="_blank">Leslie Hall</a></b> must be seen to be believed. The shimmering gold...the glasses...the makeup...the dancing, the jiggling, the gems...it's truly beyond words. Oh, and you oughta see her <b><a href="http://www.lesliehall.com/index8.html" target="_blank">gem sweater collection</a></b>. I also took several short <b><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/shoogle2/LeslieTheLysApril12007VideoClips" target="_blank">videos</a></b> which will give you an idea of what the Leslie experience is like!

Jonatha Brooke - Seattle (6/16/07) : I last saw Jonatha at Bumbershoot in 2002 (<b><a href="http://shoogle.smugmug.com/gallery/367519">gallery</a></b>) and she was just as good this time around, maybe better. I love watching her sing, she always seems to be smiling...and her goofy quips and stories between songs are an entertaining contrast to the bittersweet nature of most of her music. She's surprisingly funny and irreverent, which I had almost forgotten about since seeing her last. The music was excellent and seemingly effortless...she's a class act and we both enjoyed the hell out of her show!

Angélique Kidjo - Seattle (5/4/07) : This was only my 2nd Angelique Kidjo show, but already she's one of my favorite performers. She's so full of energy and sassy wit, and she sings with such sincerity that I'm often transfixed... And it wouldn't be complete show until she's gotten most of the room up on their feet, with a group of them dancing with her onstage. At her shows there is only fun, good music, singing, dancing, and (without the slightest bit of sarcasm) love. Go see her if you get the chance!

Altan - Seattle (3/6/07) : Altan was the gateway to my discovery of the joys of Celtic music, and over 10 years later I'm still enjoying the hell out of it. I saw them play here in Seattle in 2000 and it was fantastic, and last night's show was even better--they are an amazingly talented group, full of wit and charm and fiery tunes. They even got some of the typically passive Seattle audience to get up and dance, which is always fun to see.

True Colors Tour - Hollywood (6/30/07) : Another great show: The Cliks, The Dresden Dolls, Debbie Harry, Erasure, and Cyndi Lauper, with Margaret Cho entertaining between bands. Rosie O'Donnell showed up again as well. We enjoyed it more than <b><a href="http://shoogle.smugmug.com/gallery/2983483">Vegas</a></b>...some of the sets seemed longer, the venue was far better (being outdoors), and we were seated a bit closer this time which makes for some better pics.

True Colors Tour - Las Vegas (6/8/07) : What a show: Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Dresden Dolls, Indigo Girls, Margaret Cho, and Debbie Harry all sharing the stage. Rosie O'Donnell even made a guest appearance, chatting the audience up and banging some drums during Cyndi's set. The pics aren't too great because we were sitting so far back, but I was able to grab a few decent shots by zooming in real close and hoping for the best!
