Oct. & Nov 2012 @ Matthews Help Center : Fall turnover at the Help Center and all the volunteers and helpers in action! Haven't we got some fabulous merchandisers!!?? It looks sooo awesome - all the time!

Your donations are ALWAYS needed - and ALL funds raised go towards helping families in crisis. In the past year MHC helped over 5,000 families and individuals in need! Plus there's an after-school backpack program so kids in need can take home food for the weekend and sometimes they get free books (to keep) too!

Florida Master Money Mentors : University Of Florida Brought Their Master Money Mentor Training To All Purpose Lifeskills!

All Purpose Lifeskills (APLS) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage the community through collaborative efforts to help Domestic Violence Survivors, Foster Youth, Homeless, Low Income, and Youth At Risk acquire financial education and life skills. APLS provides the knowledge, resources, and tools which will enable participants to establish control over their circumstances, improve their quality of life, and launch a more secure future. We partner with various organizations in our community to strengthen the resources and knowledge for our participants– Children’s Services Council, Florida Prosperity Network, TTAP, Community Leadership Consulting, Community Foundation of Broward, Broward Wealth Building Coalition, Volunteer Broward, Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, Hope Outreach Center, Inc., and Second Chance Society. We also collaborate with community agencies to provide a comprehensive service that includes money management.

APLS arranges for a proven curriculum to be presented to participants by a local business professional. We coordinate the venue, including set up and break down of presentation, preparation of participant handouts, measure the effectiveness of the forums, and provide one on one or small group workshops following each forum.

The University of Florida came to All Purpose Lifeskills to provide training for volunteers through their Master Money Mentor training from February 1-3, 2011 from 9 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. Mentors will received approximately 20 hours of intensive training in basic money management, strategies for dealing with financial problems, credit and debt management, savings, mentoring techniques, and connecting to community resources. Following the training, each volunteer will provide financial mentoring at least twice per month for one year. With this training, you can become a member of a working team providing valuable services to individual and families in the community! You will receive up-to-date training and materials on financial management for personal use, while learning financial management and coaching skills. This is a great way to gain volunteer work experience and if you complete the entire training, you will be certified as a Master Money Mentor and you can gain 2 continuing education units (CEU’s) for a minimal CEU fee of $15. We would love for you to join us and become a Master Money Mentor for All Purpose Lifeskills’. To learn more about this opportunity, call All Purpose Lifeskills (954-762-7718) or email info@allpurposelifeskills.org.
