NaturePhotographers > popular today > The rocks offshore at Bandon are part of a complex of National Wildlife Refuges called "Oregon Islands NWR". Depending on location along the Oregon coast, these rocks or tiny islands, serve as breeding or resting areas for marine mammals or ocean going birds.

For more information of the Oregon Islands NWR, see for example: http://www.fws.gov/oregoncoast/oregonislands/index.htm

This small rock seemed to be hosting mainly cormorants. We were there in late September, well past the breeding season, but maybe too early for major migrations.
