The spectacular Lewis River in southwest Washington is a 95 mile tributary of the Columbia River. In the fall, the riverbanks and waterfalls are flourishing with an incredible display of color. My friend and I hiked for two days on several trails, climbed over logs and carefully stepped on slippery moss covered rocks with 25 lbs. of camera equipment on our backs. This particular spot was photographed from the top of the Lower Lewis Falls using a long exposure with an ND filter.

Cape Kiwanda is a unique place on the Oregon Coast that has caves, sandstone cliffs, arches, big waves, and the fourth tallest sea stack in the world with a height of 327 feet. On an incoming tide, these two waves collided with an unusual twist of power and force before separating and crashing into the nearby cliffs.

I have photographed the South Falls several times before, but on this day I was looking for a different perspective. I found a narrow ledge, walked to the end and took a vertical shot. When I did my horizontal, it suddenly occurred to me the 16 x 50 probably wasn’t the best choice. I had my wide-angle available, however when my knees began to shake, I knew it was time to leave.

Crater Lake is one of the most scenic lakes in the world. The snow covered peaks and the pristine blue colors of the water are unparallel..... it's one of my favorite places to photograph. I arrived at the south crater rim on a chilly morning in mid-February. To my surprise, the entire caldera was completely obscured by a thick layer of clouds. I snowshoed for 3.5 miles before making my ascend on Watchman Peak. Shortly before noon, the clouds broke and I had a clear view of the landscape. The 8,013 foot summit has stunning views of several peaks, the six mile wide caldera, and the deep blue water that makes this place magical.
The light is changing above Crater Lake in Oregon. Snow crunches under my feet as I wait for the sunrise to ignite the fluted surface of the lake that touch the surrounding cliffs that reach almost two thousand feet above the lake. I can feel the icy bite of the wind against my face.

The scene before me has not changed since the last Millennia. I am alone gazing upon one of Oregon's greatest crown jewels. I feel spiritually enlightened witnessing the spectacle before me. I capture these moments to share extraodinary places through my camera.
