Hopewell Furnace : Hopewell Furnace showcases an early American industrial landscape from natural resource extraction to enlightened conservation. Operating from 1771-1883, Hopewell and other "iron plantations" laid the foundation for the transformation of the United States into an industrial giant. By 1789 the Hopewell Furnace was Pennsylvania's second largest producer of iron. Its stated capacity was 700 tons of iron per blast year. A "blast year" usually lasted 10 - 11 months. The park's 848 acres and historic structures illustrate the business, technology and lifestyle of our growing nation.

Morgan Log House : Recently I had a chance to travel back in time by visiting the Morgan Log House in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. This house has been lovingly restored and is an excellent example of how early settlers in eastern Pennsylvania lived.

Edward and Elizabeth Morgan, who owned the house in the early 1700's were one of earliest settlers in the area. Among their descendants are Daniel Boone, the Revolutionary War Brigadier General, Daniel Morgan, and journalist/broadcaster Lowell Thomas.

So if you want to see how folks lived in the "good old days" stop in at the Morgan Log House!
