Machu Picchu : Machu Picchu was a city abandoned by the Incas. The experts believe it was both a ceremonial place and a city where high-rank Incas lived. It is in between the mountains of Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu (picchu meaning sacred mountain), down below the Urubamba river surrounds this beautiful spot. The peak of the mountains were considered special places on the Earth.
Hiram Bingham encountered the city in 1911, but locals where living in the area and knew the ruins.
The place is bigger than it seems in the photos and videos. It is not only an extremely beautiful place, you can also feel the overwhelming feeling of being in the ruins of a sacred Inca city. You can't help but admire this civilization that managed to built such amazing cities in inhospitable places. The Inca water system is also outstanding.
